Arsenal Pre-Swansea Injury & Team News Update: Gibbs, Sagna, Podolski & More…

Arsenal get back to domestic action on Saturday looking to put Wednesday nights Champions League  exit to Bayern Munich behind them as they travel to Wales to take on League Cup winners Swansea City. Ahead of the game, boss  Arsene Wenger  has given a team news and injury update to Arsenal.com  with the latest on Kieran Gibbs, Bacary Sagna and Lukas Podolski’s injury situations. The bad news is it looks like we’re going to be without all three for the trip to the Liberty Stadium. Sagna and Podolski both missed the 2-0 win over Bayern in midweek and the boss has confirmed the duo will not be back in time to face the Swans. Gibbs returned on Wednesday after six weeks out with a thigh strain and Wenger also revealed that the defender has had a small reaction and looks like he may also miss this weekends action. Frenchman says the rest of the Continent have now caught up with the EPL. Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger says that there being no English teams in the last eight of the Champions League for the first time since the 1995/96 season should serve as a massive “wake-up call” to the Premier League,  reports BBC Sport Online. And so Wenger and Co have now joined the likes of Premier League title holders Manchester City, the current European Cup winners Chelsea and the runaway top flight leaders Manchester United in departing the Champions League at the round of 16 stage. “It’s a mass

Has there ever been more riding on one North London derby in its illustrious history? When Tottenham and Arsenal rekindle their rivalry at White Hart Lane on Sunday it will be Andre Villas-Boas’ men in the driving seat for Champions League qualification; the prize both teams are desperate to claim. Spurs have been nothing short of excellent in 2013 with Villas-Boas adding to his January Manager of the Month award by winning it again in February. The Portuguese coach fully deserves the accolade having guided the club into the top three on the back of a 15 game unbeaten run following a bumpy start to life as Harry Redknapp’s successor. Incidentally their last defeat came in the reverse of this fixture in November but since then the Lilywhites have gone from strength to strength. Much of that owes to the blistering form of one Gareth Bale (February’s Player of the Month by chance) with the Welshman currently the name on the lips of world football. An incredible 90th minute winner at W
