Mikel Arteta is Officially an Arsenal head coach.

Image
Mikel Arteta leaves his role as Manchester City assistant manager and replaces Freddie Ljungberg, who took over as interim head coach following Unai Emery's sacking at the end of last month. Ljungberg oversaw two draws, two defeats and one victory during his time in temporary charge, and departs his role with Arsenal 10th in the Premier League table. Arteta returns to the club for whom he played 150 games between 2011 and 2016, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shields in the process. City and Pep Guardiola were intent on Arteta remaining at the Etihad Stadium, but the offer from the Gunners proved too enticing for their former midfielder to turn down. The domestic treble winners were angered by Arsenal's approach for the Spaniard after pictures emerged of Gunners chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and lawyer Huss Fahmy leaving his Manchester home in the early hours of Monday morning. Arteta's appointment will receive a mixed reception from Arsenal fans. Many a

Eddie Nketiah completes transfer from Arsenal to Leeds in season-long loan

Image
The Championship side lost Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht and moved fast to replace him. Nketiah becomes the club’s sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jack Clarke, Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier and Ben White and will compete with Patrick Bamford for the main striker role. Nketiah travelled to Yorkshire on deadline day to wrap his move up. Bristol City were interested in him and had been front runners last month before Unai Emery believed the young striker would stay at the Emirates Stadium this term.   But the Gunners have now decided to let him leave, despite a series of impressive pre-season performances, ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline. Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta has a good relationship with Emery and it is understood he made a personal pitch to Arsenal for Nketiah on Tuesday.   The England Under-21 international has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners and has scored three times since making his debut in the

Kieran Tierney to Have Arsenal's Medicals Before The End of Today.

Image
Arsenal have for the better part of the whole summer have been trying to get their hands on Kieran Tierney from Celtic. After their initial bids were rejected, the club reportedly went back with a revised offer and that seems to have clinched the deal. It was earlier being reported that Arsenal were confident of signing Tierney before the deadline of the transfer window and it appears that they have finally got their man. This was confirmed by BBC journalist David Ornstein who said on Twitter: ‘Arsenal keen to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney for years & finally have their man, subject to medical tomorrow (no formality given injuries but should be ok). Contact re-established this morning via Raul Sanllehi call to Peter Lawwell & deal swiftly concluded.’ He provided yet another update an hour back, claiming the defender will sign a 5-year contract with a transfer fee of £25m: This is great news for the club as they have gotten someone they have been after for a l

Arsenal tabled bid for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti

Arsenal have failed with an attempt for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti. Sport says Arsenal made a move for the France international after the decision was made to sell Laurent Koscielny to Bordeaux . Indeed, the Gunners made an offer of €58m for Umtiti this week. However, the defender informed Barca management he wasn't interested in the move, despite losing his first-choice status last season. Arsenal reject £30m offer from Everton for Alex Iwobi

Image
Everton are making moves in the transfer market. They have already spent £79m, with big names in Moise Kean and Andre Gomes among the summer arrivals. Former Ligue 1 winner Djibril Sidibé is also set to join the club on a season long loan from Monaco. But they aren't done yet. The Toffees want a winger and were targeting a move for Wilfried Zaha. According to multiple sources, including the Times, they even had a £70m bid rejected for him on Wednesday. Crystal Palace are believed to want £100m for their prized asset. It seems they have given up in their pursuit of Zaha and, according to multiple sources, including David Ornstein, Everton have now put in a £30m move for Arsenal's Alex Iwobi. Wow. Imagine going from Zaha to Iwobi. Unfortunately for Everton, Arsenal quickly rejected the offer. But they are expected to return with an improved bid as they attempt to land a new attacker before tomorrow’s 5pm deadline. If Everton do make an improved offer, it would be like Christmas

Jenkinson joins Nottingham Forest from Arsenal on three-year deal

Arsenal have finally discarded of defender Carl Jenkinson, who has joined Nottingham Forest on a three-year deal. The right-back, 27, has agreed a three-year contract with the Reds to become their eighth close-season signing and is available for Saturday's Championship visit to Leeds United. Jenkinson, capped once at senior level by England, joined the Gunners from Charlton Athletic in 2011, but he made just 70 appearances for the club in that time. He has also had loan spells with West Ham and Birmingham City, however he remained with Unai Emery's side last season, playing eight times across all competitions.

Laurent Koscielny explains reason behind pushing to leave Arsenal

Image
The Gunners announced the departure of Koscielny on their official website yesterday. The 33-year old joined Arsenal from Lorient in 2010 and made 353 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals and providing 5 assists. During his stay at the Emirates, Koscielny won 5 trophies that included 3 FA Cups and 2 Community Shields. Last season, the Frenchman led Arsenal to the Europa League final and was also in the Team of the Season. Following the end of the campaign, the 33-year old refused to travel with Arsenal for their pre-season tour. This was enough to suggest that he wanted to leave the club and now, the centre-back has joined Bordeaux. Koscielny took to social media to reveal the reason he wanted to join the Ligue 1 club, suggesting that he was keen to return to his homeland for the final stages of his career. The former France international wrote: “As you know i engaged with @girondins. After 9 years spent at Arsenal, I took the decision to leave. I have spent wonderful years with

Mustafi to Monaco Transfer Deal is The Latest.

Image
Monaco have enquired about the availability of Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi, with the Gunners quoting a fee of around €30m (£27.5m) if Monaco want to sign him. Mustafi has been heavily linked with a move away from the club all summer, especially after a drastic downturn in form towards the end of last season. That departure now appears to be moving closer, as L'Equipe (via Get French Football News) state that Monaco are keen on striking a deal for the German, but a €30m move away from Arsenal is not as easy as once thought. Unai Emery was believed to be desperate to offload Mustafi earlier in the summer, seeing the defender as a good way to raise additional transfer funds. However, with Laurent Koscielny seemingly refusing to play, Arsenal may find themselves light in the centre back department. They have signed young William Saliba, but he will not actually move to the Emirates Stadium until next summer, which leaves the Gunners with just Sokratis Papastathopoulos,

Emery Gives Update On Injury To Ramsey After Napoli Win.

Image
Unai Emery admits he doesn’t know if Aaron Ramsey has already played his last game for Arsenal. The 28-year-old, who will join Juventus on a free transfer in the summer, limped off in the 31st minute after sustaining a hamstring strain during Arsenal’s Europa League win over Napoli on Thursday. Alexandre Lacazette’s stunning free-kick secured a 1-0 win away from home to book a last four showdown with Valencia, one of Emery’s former clubs. Arsenal will, however, almost certainly be without the Wales international, scorer of two FA Cup final winning goals, although Emery admitted it was too early to judge the severity of the injury. Asked if Ramsey has played his last game for Arsenal, he responded: ‘I don’t know. ‘It is a muscular injury. Normally it will be some weeks out for him. But we have other players and we can find a performance and rotate players.’ On the prospect of facing Valencia, who knocked out fellow Spanish side Villarreal, Emery added: ‘I am proud of th

Arsenal have to act quickly if they want Eredivisie star valued at €35m

Arsenal and Bayern Munich are both interested in signing Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech, with the Moroccan star having put in a host of eye-catching displays this season. The 26-year-old star was one of the stars of the show as de Joden surprisingly knocked Serie A side Juventus out of the UEFA Champions League this week, following on from their brilliant victory over title holders Real Madrid in the round of 16. The playmaker’s continued form has reportedly drawn the attention of die Roten, with the club preparing to replace long-serving pair Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in summer. According to German outlet Süddeutsche Zeitung, manager Niko Kovac’s side are interested in exploring the possibility of landing him this summer, though they do face heavy competition for his services from Premier League giants Arsenal. Indeed, Unai Emery’s side are preparing for life after Wales international Aaron Ramsey and the club could be tempted to make a bid for Ziyech, as they plan to expand their

Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is undergoing a medical ahead of joining RB Leipzig on loan for the rest of the season, according to Sky sources. The 18-year-old flew to Germany on Wednesday evening, ahead of a medical on Thursday morning with the Bundesliga side. RB Leipzig manager Ralph Rangnick said on Thursday: "Yes, I can confirm that the player is in Leipzig. And that we'll carry out the medical today. "Then we'll have to see that we have everything available to be able to complete the transfer today. If that is the case today, we do not have that much time left - everything must be done by 6pm then the player can come to us. "At the moment this is not the case and I cannot confirm this transfer yet. If everything will work out, then I can still say something about it tomorrow." The imminent arrival of Denis Suarez at the Emirates has allowed Arsenal to let Smith Rowe, who has represented England at youth level, go out on loan. Smith Rowe has mad

Just One Details Left To Sort Out Before Arsenal Complete And Announce Denis Suarez Done Deal

Barcelona are just waiting to receive a call from Denis Suarez’s agent with the agreement of Arsenal to conclude the player’s transfer, according to reports in Spain. Mundo Deportivo report that Suarez travelled with the Barcelona squad to Valencia, for their match against Levante, but that doesn’t mean a deal couldn’t go through very soon. The Spanish outlet say Barca are just waiting for a call from Suarez’s agent to notify them of agreement with Arsenal, but until then, the 25-year-old will keep playing. MD claim that ‘everything indicates’ the midfielder will end up joining Arsenal, but they don’t have a final agreement over how that transfer would actually take place. The Gunners are still asking for a loan transfer with an option-to-buy, whilst Barcelona want a loan fee and a mandatory purchase option, if not a permanent transfer immediately. The fact that Unai Emery has worked with the player before at Sevilla, and Raul Sanllehi joined Arsenal from Barcelona, sugge

Ramsey Announcement Due For Friday

Image
Emerging report hints that Wales international and Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey would be announced as a Juventus player on Friday. The former Cardiff City star is reported to have agreed on personal terms with the club as he is set to earn the sum of £7.5 million a season from the Old Lady, in addition to the five years deal that was also agreed. However, reports from Italy claim that all has not been sorted between the Turin side and the North London side as Juventus are not willing to meet with the £20 million demand from the Gunners for the star player. The report claims that the Old Lady will make an attempt to convince the North London outfit into having a change of mind in the price so that it can be affordable. However, the Italian Serie A champions will be left with no choice than to make use of their second option of returning for the player in the summer window should Arsenal fail to come down with the price. A number of top European sides including Real Madrid, PSG, Bay

Petr Cech Has Finally Called It A Day

Image
Arsenal’s giant Czech Republic keeper Petr Cech has finally called it a day after all these years, and he is definitely one of the most celebrated shot-stoppers in history after becoming the first keeper to record 200 clean sheets in the Premier League in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Watford last season, during which he saved a penalty from Troy Deeney. He may have only won two Community Shields with the Gunners and will certainly be more revered by Chelsea fans as he won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League, the Europa League, and three League Cups, but he has certainly put up some great performances for the Gunners as well. He announced yesterday: “This is my 20th season as a professional player and it is 20 years since I signed my first professional contract, so it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of this season. “Having played 15 years in the Premier League and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved e

Arsenal will appoint former star Edu as the club’s technical director in the stead of transfer guru Sven Mislintat, per reports. Reports emerged that Mislintat, who’s the head of recruitment for Arsenal, is set the leave the club. The Gunners appointed Mislintat in November 2017 as their Chief scout, his portfolio was later changed to head of recruitment. Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis were still on the reigns of Arsenal when he was appointed but both are gone, while Emery is in the charge of the club, in its transition process. Known as “Diamond Eye”, Mislintat has been able to bolster the rank of Arsenal with some quality players including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mavropanos. Although, Arsenal are yet to issue an official statement on his impending departure, the Guardian reports that he decided to quit because Arsenal do not favour him for the technical director position.
