Medical complete: Arsenal star set to take pay cut as he closes in on loan exit

Image
Hector Bellerin has reportedly completed his medical ahead of a loan exit from Arsenal to Real Betis, according to David Ornstein of the Athletic. The Athletic report that Bellerin is set to take a pay cut in order to facilitate the move back to his homeland as final details regarding personal terms are now being worked out. Bellerin has fallen out of favour at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta only handed the ace three appearances in the final 13 Premier League matches last season and he’s not had any outings for the Gunners this term. The 26-year-old has been with Arsenal for a decade, having left the famed La Masia academy of Barcelona to embark on a journey with the Gunners. The Athletic add that the right-back completed his medical in London ahead of flying to Spain, where Betis will await La Liga approval before they can finalise the transfer. Done Deal: Takehiro Tomiyasu undergoing medical’ with Arsenal after £16m deal is agreed

Image
Takehiro Tomiyasu is currently undergoing his medical with Arsenal after an initial £16m deal was agreed with Bologna to sign the versatile defender, according to The Athletic. Arsenal were also tipped to sign a new right-back this summer after Hector Bellerin fell out-of-favour last season but it looked as though Arteta could be left disappointed as deadline day arrived with no new right-back added to the squad. However, news broke earlier today via The Athletic that claimed Arsenal had opened talks with Bologna over a deal to sign Tomiyasu after making a late move to land the Japanese international. Arsenal and Tottenham had been linked with the 22-year-old earlier in the summer but with Spurs now closing-in on a deal for Barcelona right-back Emerson Royal, the Gunners were clear to step-up their interest in Tomiyasu. Negotiations have gone smoothly as The Athletic journalist David Ornstein now says Tomiyasu is currently undergoing his medical in Italy after Arsenal agreed a dea

Official: Arsenal complete the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard

Image
At last Arsenal have finally confirmed that the Gunners have signed Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid and he has been given the No 8 shirt. Mikel Arteta made it clear at the end of last season that the return of Odegaard was his highest priority and an integral part of his rebuilding process. It will be very interesting to see if Odegaard could line up alongside Emile Smith-Rowe or whether they could play alongside each other behind our main striker (whoever that may be). Arteta obviously thinks that Odegaard fits his new system perfectly, and along with the rest of our new signings, this will be the year that Arteta has to prove he can take the Gunners back to the top. 22-year-old Norwegian playmaker Martin Odegaard spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal, scoring two goals in 20 appearances for the north London club. He then returned to Madrid and was hoping to get a chance under Carlo Ancelotti this season, but the Norwegian has now returned to back to the Em

Buzzing’ Joe Willock explains decision to join Newcastle United from Arsenal

Image
Joe Willock is ‘buzzing’ to join Newcastle United and insists it was the ‘right time’ to leave boyhood club Arsenal. Willock spent well over a decade at the Emirates, first as an academy star and more recently as a first-team player. The 21-year-old impressed while on loan at St James’ Park last season, scoring seven goals in seven matches to help Steve Bruce’s side climb away from the relegation zone and eventually finish 12th. ‘I’m buzzing to be here,’ Willock told Newcastle’s official website. ‘I loved my time here last season and I’m really happy to be back and to be a Newcastle United player. ‘Leaving Arsenal is obviously a big step, and I’d like to thank everyone involved with the club for all their support over the years, but this is the right move to the right club at the right time for me. ‘I only got one chance to play in front of a smaller number of Newcastle fans as a home player last season, so I can’t wait to step out in front of a packed St. James’ Park and experi

Marseille complete loan signing of Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal, the deal is an initial loan with an option to buy dependent on certain achievable conditions, Guendouzi spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin. It is understood the deal agreed between the clubs is an initial loan with an option to buy next summer dependent on certain achievable conditions. The French midfielder, who joined Arsenal from Lorient in 2018, spent last season out on loan at Hertha Berlin, making 24 appearances and scoring two goals before injury cut his campaign short. He made 82 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, becoming a key member of the side under previous manager Unai Emery but fell quickly out of favour following Mikel Arteta's arrival at the Emirates in December 2019. A Marseille statement confirming the move said: "Guendouzi is a modern midfielder, technically strong and with good passing quality. "A player of character, he has a good vision of the game. These qua

Arsenal have finally announced their first senior signing of the summer

Image
As we’d already heard, Tavares held his physical tests and medical examinations in Lisbon before travelling to England. He was then forced to quarantine for five days upon arrival in London, at which point he could be released with a negative Covid test. Watts adds that Arsenal are hoping to get everything done with his signing in time for him to join next week’s training camp in Scotland. A Bola reported last week that Mikel Arteta has already welcomed the player to Arsenal, speaking to him on the phone after the transfer was agreed. But they’ll now get the chance to meet up in person, along with the rest of Tavares’ new teammates. Tavares will join for €8m plus €2m in add-ons, and he’s expected to act as a backup left-back to Kieran Tierney when Sead Kolasinac leaves. He’ll join on a four-year deal with a club option for an additional 12 months. Reports suggest Tavares’ add-ons are based on making a certain number of appearances for Arsenal, receiving a senior Portugal cap an

Sambi Lokonga passes Arsenal medical ahead of transfer

Image
Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has had a successful medical in Belgium ahead of his expected transfer to Arsenal this month. The Gunners have agreed an initial €17.5 million fee for the 21-year-old. The deal could rise to €21m with the performance-based add-ons involved. It was reported yesterday that a medical was being planned, and reputed Belgian journalist Sven Claes has now confirmed that Lokonga has passed the tests. The Gunners are on the cusp of announcing the arrival of Nuno Tavares from Benfica, and Lokonga’s transfer could also be confirmed soon. He may have to quarantine on his arrival in the English capital. It appears unlikely that he will be involved with the Gunners in their pre-season camp in Scotland. Meanwhile, the signing of the Belgian could pave the way for the departure of Granit Xhaka. He is reportedly close to joining Serie A club Roma. Lokonga may not be the Gunners’ only midfield signing of the summer. They are reportedly searching for

Odegaard COMPLETES his medical ahead of Arsenal move

Image
The Gunners could finally be about to announce the Martin Odegaard transfer imminently as the Real Madrid attacking midfielder is said to have passed his medical. The Norway international has not featured regularly in his time at the Bernabeu but shone on loan at Real Sociedad last season. Arsenal fans will now hope he can show that kind of form again in his time at the Emirates Stadium, particularly as the club could do with a replacement for Mesut Ozil after his move to Fenerbahce. Odegaard enjoyed a very good loan spell at Real Sociedad least season, and was hoping that this season, he would finally get the opportunity to showcase his talents and get his name on the regular starting sheet at the club. However, that never happened, as Zinedine Zidane did not trust the talent, and when Arsenal came calling, he jumped at the opportunity to test himself at the London club, in the best League in the world. The rumours have all been positive about his move to Arsenal, and he now lo

Arsenal signed Mat Ryan and here is his first words as an Arsenal player after completing loan move from Brighton.

Image
Mat Ryan has spoken his first words as an Arsenal player admitting the whole move feels "surreal" having been a Gooner since childhood. It was confirmed earlier on Friday that the Australian would be joining the Gunners from Brighton for the remainder of the season on loan. Ryan had been first choice for three seasons at the Amex but lost his place to Robert Sanchez this campaign. He will now provide competition to Bernd Leno in Mikel Arteta's squad for the remainder of the season. It's a dream come true for Ryan who revealed earlier that he was a boyhood Arsenal fan. "Yeah quite simply a dream come true," he told Arsenal.com. "You know Arsenal was my childhood club that I followed as a kid and to be sitting here right now representing them is something that I never thought would become a reality, but I'm very thankful it has. "There's still an aura of surrealness to it all to be honest. I'm really proud, it's great and it

Arsene Wenger gives an honest opinion on Mesut Ozil’s move from Arsenal to Fenerbahce

Image
As the man who brought Mesut Ozil to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger knows as much as anyone what skill set the silky midfielder can bring to the table. A lot has been written about the player over the last few months, but his former manager won’t have a bad word said about him. “Mesut is like if you imagine an orchestra in music. He’s a guy who plays the ball at the right time,” he said on beIN Sports, quoted by the Daily Express. “The timing of his pass is exceptional, but the creativity of his pass is as well. In every situation he confronts, he gives the right answer and that is genius. “I must say he can provide the assists, the key pass. I remember he was the first one, the quickest one to break the number of assists in the Premier League. In 2015/16 he had 19 assists in the league. That is absolutely amazing. “If the moment is right around him, the timing of the pass will be perfect and the quality of the pass will be perfect. He’s the kind of players strikers love, alway
