Nacho Monreal: Signs for Arsenal from Malaga Arsenal left it late but managed to get a signing in before the transfer window shut, securing defender Nacho Monreal from Malaga on a long-term contract The Gunners announced the move on their official website just as the deadline approached, saying they had paid an undisclosed fee for the 26-year-old. The Spain left-back arrives at the Emirates Stadium at a perfect time for manager Arsene Wenger, who last night lost Kieran Gibbs for three weeks with a thigh injury. "We are delighted that Nacho Monreal has agreed to join us. We have been monitoring him for some time now and are really pleased that we've been able to agree this move today," Wenger said. "Monreal is a strong left-sided defender with good experience at both club and international level. He is a technically gifted player, a good crosser in the final third and strong in the air. Monreal will add quality to our squad and of course, to our def

'We have to learn to trust these players and keep faith with them.' Wenger has yet to make any signings during the transfer window but is said to be interested in Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta. Wenger had earmarked a new goalkeeper, a defensive midfielder and a striker as his three priority areas to strengthen.  End of the road: Villa is set to stay in Bar

Breaking news: Arsenal finally do business as £8.5 million defender is on way!

There has been some good news for Arsenal fans who wanted to see new faces arrive at the club as it has been reported in the Daily Mail the Gunners are set to complete the signing of Malaga defender Nacho Monreal. The left-back is in London putting the final touches on his move which will mark Arsene Wenger’s first signing of the transfer window, and will set the Gunners back £8.5million. Fan Fear For Santos vs Robben

Image
in Share email After Kieran Gibbs came off injured he faces a fight to be fit for the Champions League games with Bayern Munich. It left many fans wondering what will come of a duel between the struggling Andre Santos and Dutch winger Arjen Robben. Arsenal played out an exciting 2-2 draw with Liverpool at The Emirates last night and after going two-goals down they would have been pleased with the way they responded to such a lacklustre start and in the end they were unfortunate not to earn all three points. However the game again had a similar talking point and the worst factor of said talking point is that I am about to agree with Piers Morgan’s opinion on football. Give me strength when I say these things but frankly Andre Santos really might be the worst player to ever pull on an Arsenal shirt. That may be unfair as he must have something about him to have made 22 caps for Brazil. But as a left-back in the Premier League he is nowhere near the standar

Arsenal Given Hope In David Villa Chase After Man City Rule Out Signing.

2 Gunners given hope in chase for Spanish striker. Manchester City are not interested in a deal for Barcelona striker David Villa, according to  Sky Sports . Newcastle vs Arsenal tickets  are still available for the clash at St James’ Park on 19 May! The news will give hope to Arsenal,  who have been repeatedly linked with the out-of-favour front-man this month . Premier League Champions City are on the verge of selling striker Mario Balotelli to AC Milan and had reportedly identified 31-year-old Villa as an ideal replacement. But Roberto Mancini said on Tuesday that he does not expect to sign a replacement for the Italy international, leaving Arsenal free to attempt to complete an unlikely deal for the former Valencia man. Villa is reportedly desperate to leave the Nou Camp this month, having made just seven starts in La Liga all season. The striker has still found the net on five occasions but wants to play regular first-team football. Reports last week suggested

Parlour: Arsenal Do Not Need David Villa.

Image
Former Arsenal winger Ray Parlour believes fans of the club should not worry after they failed to sign Barcelona striker David Villa.   The Gunners had been interested in Villa for a number of months but the Catalan club refused any approach and boss Arsene Wenger has put an end to a possible move. However, Parlour believes his former side can still have a successful season. “I really thought he might go and strengthen, at least bring in one player in, but it appears David Villa didn’t want to come to Arsenal,” he told  talkSPORT. “I’m sure the scouting system is working hard to find players for Arsene Wenger, but nothing has fit the bill. “It looks like he’s not going to buy anyone at the moment and he’ll have to go until the end of the season with the squad he’s got. “If Olivier Giroud can bang a few goals in then he can fire them into fourth place.

Will This Really Strenghten Arsenal Squad???

Image
You know it has been a troubling transfer window when your club’s only realistic link is to a young, mostly unheard of Frenchman. After all,  Newcastle  get linked to about six of those a day. The club I’m talking about is  Arsenal  and the player they’ve been linked to is  Florian Thauvin , a 20-year-old French midfielder. Woopee! Yes, there have been various, spurious links to players like David Villa, Stevan Jovetic and Mats Hummels, but it’s unclear how much truth there is in these stories. When it comes to Thauvin, however, there seems to be evidence of Arsenal interest.  Bastia ’s chairman,  Pierre-Marie Geronimi  has told the Press: “ This week I have had Arsene Wenger on the phone twice. He expressed his interest in the player to us, but it has not gone beyond that.” But of course, since this is a young French star, Newcastle are obligated to stick their beak in:  “Florian Thauvin has been the object of just one concrete offer so far, from Newcastle, for €3mi

Arsenal vs Liverpool: Match Preview And Possible Starting XI

Tonight’s game comes at the end of a packed January which has seen Arsenal play 8 games in the space of 30 days. Although there were two league defeats to Manchester City & Chelsea, we had a convincing 5-1 win over West Ham last week and, unlike Liverpool, secured a place in the last 16 of the FA Cup. Arsenal vs Liverpool is never a dull affair and tonight should not be any different. Both teams have had fluctuating league form and will be looking to keep themselves within touching distance of the Champions League places. It’s 4 points between us & 4th placed Spurs and 7 between Spurs and Liverpool. I’m not going to say that it’s a must win, but we do need to string together some good results and slowly push ourselves back up the table. The Emirates has seen more goals than any other Premier League stadium so far this season, so we could be in for a high scoring game. Napoli president rules out sale of Arsenal target Cavani

Image
Getty Images Napoli  president Aurelio De Laurentiis has declared  Edinson Cavani  is not for sale amid interest from  Arsenal . Arsene Wenger declared his interest in the striker on Thursday, describing Cavani as a player he "liked" but admitted the player would "cost a lot of money". ARSENAL LATEST 3/1 Arsenal are 3/1 with bet365 to beat Chelsea on Sunday And now the Napoli president has revealed the club have received a bid for Cavani in the region of €55 million (£46m) which he has rejected, but stopped short of naming the club. "For Cavani I have already been offered €55m (£46m) and I said no," De Laurentiis told  Calcio Mercato . "I need him, not the money. "I am confident in his ability, he knows that here he is the number one in the city, and I do not think in other places or at other teams, most of us can identify with that city, jersey and fans." The 25-year-old has been in prolific form this season, scoring 25 g

Could This Outcast Brazilian Be The Player Arsenal Need?

Image
Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo has been a peripheral figure in Germany so far this season despite good form when he has featured. Should Arsenal consider him a potential transfer target? It has recently been contemplated that for all of Arsenal’s stylish football that perhaps the team is too lightweight; in particular in the midfield areas where the likes of Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla currently operate. While Abou Diaby does add extra steel to the team when he features that does depend on him actually featuring; with his sketchy injury record even the most optimistic of Arsenal fans struggles to see him playing over 30 games in a season. The market is currently quiet in terms of who Arsenal could well bring in; Momo Diame of West Ham is considered their most likely avenue. Available at a cut-price £3.5 million via a release clause he could certainly fill the gap perfectly. However the complications with a pre-existing heart condition are a daunting ta

Arsenal Officialy Comfirm Theo Deal

Image
Arsenal have  confirmed  that Theo Walcott has penned a new long-term deal at the club bringing a positive end to the Gunners latest interminable ‘will he, won’t he’ contract saga. It is believed that the England international has successfully sealed a £100,000-a-week, three-and-a-half-year package with reports suggesting his delegates have also pocketed him a hefty signing on fee in the region of £3 million. The deal makes Walcott one of the club’s highest paid stars. Having done their utmost to drive a hard bargain over the last 18 months it looks as though the board had little choice but to soften their stance with the player able to leave N5 at the end of the season on a free. Outflanked on the negotiation front, Ivan Gazidis and Dick Law can at least take heart from the fact that one of the squad’s most marketable faces remains at the club despite obvious interest from rival Premier League clubs. Indeed, given the high-profile departures of Robin van Persie, Samir Nasr

Arsenal Transfer News: Are Gunners Interested in Edinson Cavani?

Image
Next Maurizio Lagana/Getty Images Arsenal  have been linked with their biggest name over the winter transfer window so far—star  Napoli  striker  Edinson   Cavani . The North London club are believed to be in the market for a striker given the subpar performances of Theo  Walcott  and Olivier  Giroud  so far this year. However, few would have expected that the normally frugal Gunners would be interested in  Cavani , who is rated as one of the top strikers in world football. Per Richard Browne of  The Independent: Arsenal manager  Arsene   Wenger  today confirmed an interest in  Napoli striker  Edinson   Cavani , the Uruguayan striker who has scored 16  Serie  A goals this season. Wenger  was asked about reports which linked his club to  Cavani , and replied: "Cavani is a player that I like. Will he cost a lot of money? That's for sure. Nobody would deny that." He added: "Our banker lives just next to me at the moment and he is ready if we fi
