Arsenal Bid For Cabaye Accepted

Well it is about time that Arsenal fans had something to cheer about today, as Sky Sports are reporting right now that the Gunners have put in a bid for Yohan Cabaye, and Newcastle have accepted it! So now Arsenal have a couple of hours to agree personal terms and check him over before the window shuts. Cabaye has been linked with Arsenal for the last few days after it was originally assumed that we were after his midfield Toon team-mate Chieck Tiote – but it seems that those rumours were wide of the mark. When it was originally reported that Arsenal were chasing Tiote, Wenger responded by saying: ‘I’m pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something. Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available. Tiote is a good player, but he’s not on the way to Arsenal.’ Wenger obviously rates the £15m-rated French midfielder Cabaye above his team-mate Tiote, and it looks like we may have something to cheer about before the windo

Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin Will Remain In Emirate

Image
Little Russian and Arsenal midfielder  Andrey Arshavin  has confirmed that he will remain a Gunner this season despite his contract expiring in 12 months time. Asked by  Sport Express  as to whether he would be staying at the Emirates this season, Andrey replied with a ‘yes’. Arshavin was bought on deadline day in 2009 and started his career at the Emirates with a bang, but unfortunately his form dramatically decreased. He has often been criticised for being lazy, highlighted by his reluctance to drop back and help out to defend or create space for himself, which largely means he remains static on the wing. While it is true that Arshavin plays better through the middle, I still think he could have made more of an effort and even cut-in from the flank at times if he wanted to have some influence in the middle of midfield. He did have a good first few months in that position so we know he is able to play there. Due to his lack of playing time at the Emirates las

Arsenal to Make Last Gasp £16m Bid to Sign Newcastle United Midfielder Cheick Tiote

Image
Emirates Stadium consider deadline-day move for St James’ Park enforcer. Arsenal are reportedly readying a bid in the region of £16m for Newcastle United enforcer Cheick Tiote as Arsene Wenger plots a late move on transfer deadline day. The Gunners boss believes the St James’ Park enforcer as the ideal man to replace Alex Song, who moved to Barcelona earlier this month. Indeed the Emirates Stadium manager is ready to use the funds from the sale of the Cameroonian to make an offer for the Magpies star. Chieck Tiote has enjoyed two successful campaigns at St James’ Park since his £3.5m arrival from FC Twente but Alan Pardew has himself admitted that he is concerned that his side’s successes could lead to unwanted attention from prospective suitors. Thus far the Newcastle United boss has managed to hold on to the club’s top performers who helped the North-East side secure a surprise top five finish last season but he may well fear that the club’s owner, Mike Ashle

Late M’Vila Move Ruled Out

Image
As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today, Rennes claim Yann M’Vila won’t be leaving this summer. Rennes have confirmed that Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham target Yann M’Vila won’t be making a late switch to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports . The powerful midfield enforcer has attracted interest from clubs throughout Europe this summer after declaring his intention to leave Ligue 1 this summer. Arsenal were the early front-runners for his signature but were joined by rivals Tottenham as well as champions Manchester City. However, the Gunners and City have failed to follow up their initial interest and Rennes claim Tottenham called off negotiations on Thursday evening. The French outfit have now ruled out M’Vila making a late move to the Premier League, with President Frederic de Saint Sernin claiming only clubs in Russia or Ukraine have a chance o

Chelsea Offer Michael Essien to Arsenal But Wenger Declines Blues Proposal

Image
Stamford Bridge side attempt to send midfielder to the Emirates Stadium. So there you have it. This may or may not be an accurate representation of the speculation surrounding Michael Essien being linked with a move from Chelsea to Arsenal, but either way as yet the Ghanaian has yet to make a move away from the Stamford Bridge club. Tellingly the 29 year old defensive midfielder was not part of the Blues squad that traveled to Monaco to take on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. Many would have thought that Arsene Wenger would be keen on bringing in a defensive midfielder having seen Alex Song move to Barcelona but with hours to go until the transfer window slams shut the North London club has not brought in such a player thus far. In his pomp Essien was perhaps one of the best tough tacklers midfielders in the Premier League but injuries and average form have left the former Monaco man looking to leave Chelsea in order to re-ignite a career that is in dang

DONE DEAL: Tottenham Complete £6m Deal to Sign Fulham Attacker Clint Dempsey

Image
White Hart Lane side clinch Craven Cottage forward signing. Tottenham are having a very productive transfer deadline day. Having secured a deal to sign French international keeper Hugo Lloris the North London side have now landed Fulham forward Clint Dempsey. The 29 year old has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage for a couple of months now and his attempts to engineer a move away from Fulham have led to him being frozen out by Martin Jol, fined and out of the West London club’s first team picture for the opening Premier League matches of the season. Dempsey had a stand out season last term, netting 23 goals in all competitions. Andre Villas-Boas may well have felt it imperative to bring in another goal-scoring option and the fact that Dempsey can play in a variety of attacking roles will also have played a part in the Portuguese boss’s pursuit of the Texan. Clint Dempsey can play as an orthodox striker as well as in an advanced attacking midfield r

Arsenal Make £7m Bid For Demba Ba

Hey for a second there, I thought AW was content with Giroud and Chamakh as our two front line attackers. Then reports flew in like a pigeon to some bread that Newcastle are lining up a move for a replacement striker. Why? Well Arsenal are reportedly offering £7m for the prolific striker Demba Ba. Ba has been somewhat of a spectacle since signing on a free transfer from West Ham last summer. To be modest, he’s scored some crackers last season and has a £7m release clause in his contract. So D day nonsense or actual possibility? Guess we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out. The player could quit St James’ Park with Arsenal offering him a step up the pecking order. At £7m it’s not hard to predict that many other sides will be sniffing around the powerfully built French born forward but the promise of Champions League football, a tournament Demba Ba is yet to feature in, could see the AW leading the race for his services. What’s more, we need a back for Girou

Arsenal To Bid For Giuseppe Rossi

Image
If Your a fan of Arsenal Football Club, then this is probably the best rumor you have heard or you will hear today . Some sources from Spain suggest that Arsenal is now considering a deadline day bid for Giuseppe Rossi of Villarreal CF. Rossi To Arsenal? One of the Spanish website posted, “Arsenal are planning to make a 10 million pounds bid for Giuseppe Rossi” ” It is very surprising that no one showed real interest in signing Rossi! His current club got relegated and he is world class!” “Another English club (Liverpool) also interested in the player” I don’t know how far this is true but even i am wondering why no club showed any real interest in him till now. It looks as if Villarreal have covered him with an invisibility cloak What do you guys think? In which club do you want to see Rossi next season? Post your opinions below.

Wenger Happy With Gunner's UCL Group

Arsene Wenger has welcomed Arsenal's Champions League draw and accepts his side are the favourites to progress. The Gunners face Schalke and the champions of Greece and France respectively, Olympiacos and Montpellier, in a group that is reasonably light on travelling. Wenger, who is preparing Arsenal for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield, stresses the need to make a positive start against Montpellier on September 18. "We will be favourites because we have the biggest experience in this group," he told Arsenal Player. "But we know by experience that the Champions League is the Champions League. "Every team is a special occasion, it's always a cup game and you want to be serious and have a good start." While Arsenal have avoided any of Europe's big guns, Wenger insists Group B remains a formidable challenge. "We start in Montpellier, which is a difficult plac

Turkish giants admit there is a high possibility they will sign Arsenal ace

Marouane Chamakh could be on his way out of Arsenal for this season as Malaga and Besiktas have made loan offers for the struggling striker. The 28-year-old when signed for free from Bordeaux in 2010 was considered as a master stroke from Arsene Wenger. He started the season brightly, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists for the Gunners. However, last season was utterly frustrating for him as he spent most of the time serving as deputy of ex-skipper Robin van Persie, scoring only one goal in 14 league appearances. Despite the departure of the Dutchman to Manchester United, his position at the club hasn’t improved as Arsenal recruited Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud to bolster their attacking options. Bereft of confidence, he is now looking to get some play time elsewhere; with Spanish outfit Malaga and Turkish club Besiktas have made loan offers while Everton, Fiorentina and his former club Bordeaux have also registered interest in signing him. Arsenal In Last Minute Move For Van Der Wiel

It was fully expected that the new French richboys Paris St Germain had managed to tie up a deal for the Ajax defender Gregory Van Der Wiel, but it is now being reported by the French radio station RMC that both Arsenal and Newcastle are making a last-ditch attempt to try and bring Van Der Wiel to the Premier League. The Ajax defender is a snip at just £4.5 million and is highly experienced and respected in Holland. If Van Der Wiel moves to Paris there is also the fact that he will be in direct competition with the PSG captain Christophe Jallet which may restrict his opportunities for first team football, whereas at Arsenal he will only have Carl Jenkinson to compete with until the increasingly fragile Bacary Sagna returns from his second broken leg. Wenger has made it clear that Arsenal will only buy “top, top players” and with the Gunners obviously weak in the full-back positions, Van Der Wiel could easily qualify for that title, and at an excellent price. BBC Report That Only Michael Essien May Arrive At Arsenal Today

The respected BBC football expert David Ormstein seems to have been talking with someone at Arsenal and he has been assured that Arsene Wenger has no intention of adding to the squad today. With the departures of Nicklas Bendtner and Chu-Young Park this is rapidly turning into a deadwood day for Arsenal fans rather than deadline day, and Ormstein seems sure that the ONLY possible arrival could be Michael Essien on loan and that is only because Chelsea are looking to offload. Ornstein said on the BBC: “We’ve been given word that, as things stand, it is unlikely there will be any major arrivals at Arsenal before the transfer deadline. “Reports linking them with a move for Newcastle midfielder Chieck Tiote are wide of the mark, while there have been informal conversations with Chelsea about midfielder Michael Essien – the Blues are open to him leaving on loan – but this move will not happen unless Arsene Wenger changes his mind on a player he has not been tracking.”

Still a chance that Arsenal and Man City will end up doing a deal before transfer window closes

Arsenal are linked with a shock move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko as Arsene Wenger looks to solve the goal-scoring conundrum before the transfer deadline day. Arsenal have added Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud to their ranks in the summer, to fill up the void left by the departure of Robin van Persie who was sold to Manchester United for £24m but the manager has been left frustrated by the fact, that his side has been held by consecutive goal-less draws in their opening two Barclays Premier League fixtures. Wenger will try to offload some of the fringe players in the squad and try to test City’s resolve with an audacious bid for the player before the transfer window shuts down. Arsenal are prepared to pay at the most £18m for the Bosnian, who has become frustrated with lack of first team opportunities at the club. He has fallen down the pecking orders behind Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli at Manchester City. Last season, despite scori

Celta Vigo confirm deal for Arsenal striker Park

So not the big hot transfer gossip everyone was expecting but maybe some mixed news to break the flow of tide. Spanish side Celta Vigo have now officially confirmed the signing of Arsenal’s Park Chu-Young on a loan deal according to Spanish paper Marca. I’m not a fan of Marca but now this report also been confirmed on the Celta Vigo official site so it’s true. Park, who arrived on deadline day last season, struggled to even make the bench during his first season with Arsenal and was one of AW more curious signings. No one really knows why he wasn’t given a chance or why he was unable to break into the first team given Chamakh’s poor performances, but it seems like AW had his reasons-whatever they may have been. The player also had his military service delayed so he could continue with his football career so it was granted that he was committed to breaking into the first team. However, Park will not spend this season at the Emirates and perhaps the questions we have

Arsenal for Clint Dempsey ?

Image
Sunderland are believed to be the latest club to have made an enquiry over the availability of Fulham forward Clint Dempsey. Martin O’Neill is an admirer if the United States international and is attempting to follow up the signings of Adam Johnson and Steven Fletcher by completing a late deal for Dempsey. Dempsey has not been involved in the Cottagers’ first three games of the new season after reportedly informing Martin Jol that he did not wish to play for the club again. Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the United States international but have so far not made an official offer for Dempsey. This has resulted in Fulham reporting the Reds to the FA about their attempts to sign the 29-year-old by letting their interest be known in the media. It is now believed that Fulham do not wish to do business with Liverpool as a result of this incident. Another club that have been linked with Dempsey is Arsenal and they are believed

Arsenal Make Late Move For Chelsea duo Michael Essien and Daniel Sturridge

With the transfer deadline day upon us, there are several players being linked with Arsenal. Chelsea duo Michael Essien and Daniel Sturridge are being linked with a loan move to the Emirates. Arsenal are reported to be interested in signing Essien in a loan deal to bolster their midfield. However with the player’s injury record, I hope he does not come to the Emirates as we already have a ton of injured midfielders. Arsenal are also being linked with Chelsea striker Sturridge, the deal seems unlikely and I expect the player to stay at Chelsea. There were also reports yesterday from French Tv BeIN Sport, stating that Arsenal are close to signing Newcastle midfielder Chiek Tiote. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his desire to sign a special player and insisted that the club is working hard to bring in new players. Talking to the media, the manager said: “We are active but of course we do not just want to bring average players in. If we find a special

Szczesny facing fitness test for Anfield

Image
Wojciech Szczesny is facing fitness tests to determine his availabilty for Sunday’s clash with Liverpool. According to Arsene Wenger the Polish stopper will face a test today and one on Saturday on the rib injury which kept him out of the trip to Stoke last week. Although Vito Mannone deputised well, Gooners will feel more comfortable with the number 1, especially after an outstanding performance there last season. Wenger also revealed that Laurent Koscielny has recovered from his calf strain and is back in the squad, now he just has to make a decision whether or not to break up the partnership between Vermaelen and Mertesacker that has started the season strongly from a defensive point of view. The manager also provided a brief update regarding Bacary Sagna and Jack Wilshere, saying, “After the international break they shouldn’t be too far away from training”, with both on course for a return in late September/early October. Other than that it ap

Arsenal rumours – Three strikers out For The Coming One

Arsenal are reportedly close to selling three strikers regarded as ‘deadwood’. The three are Bendtner, Chamakh and Park. Bendtner is currently in Italy and has agreed terms with the Italian Champions Juventus, after Arsenal gave Bendtner permission to travel to Italy according to Sky Sports. A fee is yet to be agreed but the difficult part of personal terms has been agreed. If a fee can be agreed on today, he will have a medical later this afternoon and the deal could be announced tonight. Chamakh is in talks with Turkish club Besiktas, who have been interested in the Morrocan striker for most of the summer. Chamakh is reportedly speaking to manager Samet Aybaba today. No fee or personal terms have been agreed as of yet. Arsenal are also in talks with Spanish side Celta Vigo over the proposed sale of Chu Young Park. The South Korean joined Arsenal last summer on deadline day from Monaco but failed to get a chance at the Emirates and he has been looking for an exit

Arsenal Launch £13m Bid For French Forward Loic Remy

Image
Emirates Stadium side keen to beat White Hart Lane rivals to striker signing. Arsenal are reportedly considering making a £13m bid for Marseille striker Loic Remy as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in further firepower having seen his side draw a blank in their first two Premier League encounters. The Marseille forward has long been linked with a move to the North London side and Tottenham are said to be in talks to snap up the 25 year old French international. Remy may well be sold by the Stade Velodrome side as Marseille look to balance the books. The former Nice striker has had two solid seasons at the club, netting 37 goals in the process, but watched on as they slipped to a poor tenth place finish last term. Though Arsenal have brought in Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski from Montpellier and Koln respectively, Arsene Wenger may well still feel the need to beef up his attacking options after goalless draws against Sunderland and Stoke City. Indeed t

Arsenal off to a great start in the NextGen series

Arsenal’s young guns have got off to a great start to their European campaign in the NextGen series. The Gunners faced off against Marseille in their first group game at the Underhill Stadium. Arsenal went on to win the match 3-0 in a very dominant display, specially in the first half. Here is the starting line-up that Arsenal used in that match – Moore, Bellerin, Angha, Hajrovic, Monteiro, Yennaris, Olsson, Toral, Akpom, Gnabry, Ebecilio Arsenal got off to a fantastic start as it took them only eight minutes to open the scoring. Akpom, after some wonderful work down the left, crossed into the box to which Yennaris applied the finishing touch. Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin had a wonderful match and was involved in most of the attacks in the match. Although the former Barcelona youngster remains susceptible defensively, his attacking play is something to behold. In the 20 th minute, Akpom, provider of the first goal, doubled the lead. Arsenal Are Considering To Sign Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko

Image
Reports are out claiming that Arsenal are considering a shock move to Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko. Dzeko is available from City this week, with the Premier League champs desperate to get the big Bosnian off their books. The Times says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is considering a shock move for Dzeko before Friday’s transfer deadline.

How True Is This, Cabaye's Shirt Already In Arsenal Online Shop?

Image
Is this proof that Yohan Cabaye has left Newcastle for Arsenal or just the work of cheeky internet pranksters? The picture - purportedly of the online Arsenal shop - is doing the rounds on the internet and has been gobbled up by Gooners hungry for a big signing. Last week Real Madrid jumped the gun by profiling Luka Modric on their official website, before he joined for real (no pun intended) - have Arsenal done the same or is this false hope for their loyal fans? Arsene Wenger’s Attempts To Bring In Van der Wiel Might Succeed

Dutch newspaper AD claims that Arsenal are ready to bring in Ajax’s international star Gregory Van Der Wiel, who at the age of 24 has already become an instrumental player for the Netherlands international squad. After being closely linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the summer but apparently not agreeing over personal terms, the Dutchman seems to be now close to a move to London, where Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger might be his new coach. The Frenchman has admitted earlier this summer that they will still be looking to transfer a midfielder and a defender, so AD’s supposition makes sense given the fact that Sagna isn’t yet ready for action and the Gunners are short in the right-back. Richard Law, an executive at Arsenal, has refused to speak about the link declaring: “I cannot confirm or deny. We never make announcements on transfer issues.” Arsene Wenger’s attempts to bring in Van der Wiel might succeed given the fact that the International defensive star has sta

Cesc Fabregas To Arsenal?

Image
Nou Camp star set for Emirates Stadium return? Reports from Spanish source Marca and Inside Spanish Football link Cesc Fabregas with a return to Arsenal, claiming the 25 year old has failed to force his way into new Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova’s first team plans. This would be something of a surprise and could well be a piece of fiction thought up by Marca, a publication that is famous for attacking Barcelona or producing hard to believe reports related to the Catalan giants. Fabregas was overlooked by Vilanova for both legs of the Spanish Super Cup Final against Real Madrid but the former Gunners skipper has started both Barcelona’s La Liga fixtures this term so speculation about the Spanish international not being a player Vilanova has faith in appear to hold very little water. A move away from Barcelona, and indeed a return to the Emirates Stadium, seem impossible to believe though clearly Fabregas is a player who made a real impact at Arsenal durin

Walcott To Stay At Arsenal

Image
Arsenal and Theo Walcott have come to a short-term agreement that the player will not leave the club before the transfer window ends, Sky Sports claim. The England international winger has less than a year left on his contract with the north London outfit, and has refused to pen a new deal as yet due to disagreements over wages. With Liverpool and Manchester City loitering and ready to pounce should the Gunners opt to sell the attacker, rumours were rife that Arsene Wenger would cash-in on the player to avoid losing him for free in a year’s time. However, it is believed that the latest round of talks have been more positive, and although a new contract has not been agreed upon, the two parties have agreed that a hasty sale before the end of the week is not the answer. Arsenal had to sell Robin van Persie to Manchester United earlier this summer as the Dutch maestro was in a similar position.

Walcott Seems To Be Going To Manchester City

Negotiations will resume between the Londoners and Walcott’s representatives on Wednesday, with both parties hopeful that a resolution can be reached as the clock ticks down to Friday’s transfer deadline. ESPN confirmed that Walcott and Arsenal will continue to work on a deal before considering any sales. "Negotiations are ongoing," an Arsenal spokesperson told ESPN. Walcott's representatives told ESPN they had "no comment to make." Manchester City has turned its attention to the England international as it considers alternatives to Scott Sinclair , whose expected move from Swansea City hit a stumbling block on Monday. City director Brian Marwood is close to the Walcott camp and has enquired about the player’s interest in a sh

Oxford United sign Daniel Boateng from Arsenal on loan

The 19-year-old spent the end of last season on loan at Swindon Town where he made two appearances for Paolo Di Canio's promotion-winning side. Boateng, who is a product of Arsenal's academy system, is yet to play a Premier League game. He was eligible for Tuesday's Capital One Cup tie against Leeds United and was named on the bench. The centre-back, who has been at Arsenal since the age of 11, made his first team debut playing in the Gunners' League Cup win over Bolton last season.

Chamakh Eyeing Malaga Loan

Image
by Richard on August 28, 2012 with 1 Comments in All Categories , Arsenal News , Transfer News Marouane Chamakh could be close to agreeing a season-long deal with troubled La Liga side Malaga. It’s widely believed that as part of the deal to sign Santi Cazorla for £12.5 million from the Spanish club, Arsenal also agreed a link-up which will allow Malaga to take unwanted players on-loan from the North London team, meaning Chamakh could represent the first in a long-line of similar deals that could happen in the near future. Arsenal have been trying all summer to offload the Moroccan as they attempt to slim the clubs wage bill, however the striker’s hefty salary has meant a buyer has been hard to find. Championship side Blackburn Rovers had hoped to loan the forward but once they realised Arsenal were unwilling to subsidise the majority of his wages, they pulled out of a deal. His former club Bordeaux also refused to bid for their former star man, d

Malaga youngster subject of keen interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been battling out over common targets throughout the summer, the latest being the highly talented Malaga youngster Isco. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the 20-year-old has been targeted by Spurs as a possible replacement for Luka Modric, who officially joined Real Madrid for a reported fee of £33m. The Spanish U-21 international, joined Malaga after graduating from Valencia academy, has scored five league goals in 32 appearances for the club. Arsenal have also registered their interest for the Spaniard as Wenger is looking forward to adding a quality replacement after the departure of Cameroon international Alex Song to Barcelona.

Lansbury passes Reds medical

Image
Sky Sports understands that Henri Lansbury has passed a medical at Nottingham Forest ahead of his proposed switch from Arsenal. Having spent the last three seasons away from Emirates Stadium on loan deals at Watford, Norwich and West Ham, the 21-year-old has taken the decision to make a fresh start. His past experiences of life in the Championship suggest he is capable of settling quickly at that level, and that will have appealed to Forest. The England U21 international has struggled to fulfil the promise he displayed upon breaking into the senior fold at Arsenal, but his potential remains. It is reported that Forest will snap him up on a £1million deal and add him to a squad that has made an unbeaten start to the 2012/13 campaign. Lansbury will bring creative qualities to the middle of the park and provide another useful option to Reds boss Sean O'Driscolll. With a medical now completed, a deal to take the youngster to the City Ground should be wrap

Will Bendtner Recieve Pay Cut?

The man we all love to hate definitely has his admirers. Either that or he has an exceptional agent. The want away striker has made it no secret that he wishes to leave the Emirates but is finding moving more difficult than he expected. None the less, it hasn’t stopped the likes of Italian giants AC Milan from casting an eye at the Dane and now its been reported that Juventus are being linked with the striker. As much as I would like the lad to move on (and I’m being polite), I find it difficult to believe that so many big clubs are prepared to take Bendtner off our hands.  Simply put, I’m a little cautious by it all if not in the least naive. You know what they say, if its too good to be true, it probably is. None the less, the Daily Mail report that Juventus are in fact interested in his services and are prepared to offer £5m for the player. The Dane still has two years left on his contract and a couple of clubs have taken an interest in him, especially AC Milan as

Arsenal Miss Out On M’baye Niang As He Clears Medicals At AC Milan

Arsenal and Everton target M’baye Niang has signed for Italian giants AC Milan after clearing medical tests earlier today. The France Under-21 international has been a target for Premier League duo Arsenal and Everton this summer but AC Milan seem to have persuaded him to head to Serie A.   The transfer was confirmed by AC Mlian’s official website which claimed that M’baye had a meeting with Rossoneri’s vice president and have agreed to sign for them. “Adriano Galliani flew into Milan last night and immediately went to a restaurant with new signing M’Baye Niang,” read AC Milan’s website. Champions League draw

The draw for the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League takes place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco at 5.00pm (UK time) on Thursday. Twenty-two sides, including Arsenal, have qualified directly for the group stage and will be joined by the 10 play-off winners following the conclusion of those ties on Tuesday and Wednesday. The strength of Arsenal's UEFA co-efficient means they will be seeded for the draw. The other clubs in pot one are Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Porto and Milan. Manchester City are in pot two but teams from the same national association cannot be drawn against each other in the group stage. Scroll to the bottom of this page for details on the workings of Thursday's group stage draw. The first table below shows the 22 teams guaranteed a place in the draw. The second table features the 10 play-off round fixtures concluding this week. The winner of each will advance to the group stage.

Ian Wright urges Arsenal to make a last minute swoop on bitter rivals Tottenham

Ex-Gunner and club legend Ian Wright feels that Arsenal should go for Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe before the transfer window closes. This summer has been a rollercoaster for Arsenal. The club has lost the talismanic skipper Robin van Persie to Manchester United for £24m, while Alex Song has been sold to Barcelona for around £15m. However, Wenger didn’t hesitate to bolster the squad this time around. Frenchman Olivier Giroud and German international Lukas Podolski have been brought in and Wright expects, once the duo settles in, goals will come in plenty. However, Arsenal started the present campaign with couple of goal less draws. With three days remaining, the Gunners could lure Defoe to the Emirates who is not rated highly by new manager Andre Villas-Boas. Another dodgy start to the season would be a catastrophe for Wenger’s side. Wright in his column for The Sun wrote “So if I was Arsene Wenger, I would make an audacious bid for Defoe, whose face do

Kagawa and Van Persie, A Brilliant Pairing/ Alexander Buttner News

Image
After watching the first two ManU games this season, I have many worries and concerns for the team but one bright spot for me is the acquisitions of Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie. The two players were both fantastic before coming to United, but together they have unlimited potential. With many other players up in the air, Rooney and his surgical issues, Berbatov feeling left out, Nani looking like he is trying way too hard to score and being a ball hog in the process, it’s nice to have at least one bright spot on the team. The way Kagawa and RvP played together against Fulham on Saturday was amazing. They could have 5 or 6 on the board had they been perfect, which for those to players is not really asking that much. I am sure as the season progresses we will see even more awesome goals, and if other big name players like Rooney or Danny Welbeck can join in on the fun United may be setup for another wonderful year in the EPL. After the game against Fulham Coach

Wenger knows what he wants from the transfer market before the window closes

Image
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already shattered his low-spending image and aims to go even further with a plan to add another star to his squad before the transfer window closes for the summer, as claimed by London24. Wenger has already splashed over £40 million for the transfers of Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla. However, this has also been a summer of heartbreak for Arsenal fans as skipper Robin van Persie moved to rivals Manchester United whereas midfielder Alex Song shipped out to Spanish giants Barcelona. The effects of the departures and the unsettled new squad are evident as Arsenal succumbed to their second goalless draw in successive games this season. Wenger is hopeful that the arrival of another star at the Emirates could lift spirits as the last bit of news coming from the club has been of the departure of Song. However, the Frenchman will be prudent and will spend his funds only on the right type of player. “[Defensively] overall we

Montpellier's French defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa Popular: Montpellier's French defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa The 23-year-old centre back is widely regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe, and almost sealed a move to AC Milan this summer, after leading Montpellier to the Ligue 1 title last season. A fast, athletic and versatile stopper, Yanga-Mbiwa was watched by Arsenal scouts on a handful of occasions last term, and the Gunners have continued adding to their dossier on the player this season, after sending representatives to Montpellier's 1-0 defeat to Marseille on Sunday. It is understood that Arsenal are now seriously considering making an offer for the France international, but manager Arsene Wenger is yet to give the go-ahead, as he looks at other options. In the meantime, big-spending Chelsea are also monitoring Yanga-Mbiwa, and joined Arsenal and Manchester City in watching the defender over the weekend. Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo is willing t

Arsene Wenger slaps down Redknapp over new strikers jibe

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reacted furiously to comments made by Sky sports pundit Jamie Redknapp in regards to Arsenal’s new striking duo, Lukas Posolski and Olivier Giroud. Redknapp said “For me, those two aren’t in the same league as Van Persie. I was disappointed in both of them.” Those comments brought out the defensive nature in Wenger who responded, “I have worked for 30 years on the football pitch, every day. I know what it is to improve a football player. “What it is to go out morning and afternoon and try to make a player out of somebody. Not everybody can say that. “Of course they are quality players. “I do not listen too much to what people say — I try to see if it is exaggerated or not.” That is Redknapp told then, maybe when Redknapp has been at the top of the game in maangement as long as what Wenger has then he his comments may carry some weight, alas not now though and lets be honest, it hardly makes you the greatest TV pundit

Newcastle standing firm over Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote interest

Not for sale: Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle United (Picture: Getty Images) The news comes after a weekend of intense speculation surrounding the trio, with Cabaye and Tiote linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea, while captain Coloccini is a target for Manchester City. But Magpies boss Pardew, who is desperate to hang onto his big names this summer, says the club aren't looking to entertain offers this late in the window. 'All my bigger players are important and would be hard to replace now,' Pardew confessed. 'You lose a big player at this stage of the season and you have to try to take someone out from somewhere else and they want a replacement and suddenly time is running out. 'We want to avoid losing any of our big players and not being able to get someone in to replace them.' Pardew knows better than most the perils of selling late on, having flogged Andy Carroll to Liverpool in the closing stages of last January, and ultimately running out of time to spend t

Wenger Responds To £15m Tiote Reports

As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today, Arsene Wenger responds to reports suggesting he wants Cheick Tiote. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has responded to speculation linking him with a move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote. The Mirror reported on Sunday that the Gunners boss has made Tiote his number one transfer target ahead of Rennes enforcer Yann M’Vila as he tries to add a defensive midfielder to his squad in the final week of the transfer window. Wenger is keen to replace the departed Alex Song, who was sold to Barcelona last week, and the Mirror claim he’s set to table a £15m bid for the Newcastle ace. Speaking after Sunday’s 0-0 draw away with Stoke City, Wenger said that while he admires the 26-year-old’s talents he dismissed he’s set for a move to the Emirates. Wenger told Arsenal.com : “Tiote is a good player but he is not on his wa

Wenger expresses his frustration over players he turns in to stars that then go and leave

Arsene Wenger is frustrated at how he has had to rebuild his team each summer as top stars continue to leave Arsenal for other top clubs across Europe, revealed ESPN Soccernet. Several key players have departed from the Emirates in recent years making the Arsenal squad weaker each summer. Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri left Arsenal for Manchester City whereas Cesc Fabregas left the Gunners for hometown club Barcelona. This summer, former skipper Robin van Persie moved out to bitter rivals Manchester United and Alex Song departed for the Camp Nou as well, leaving Wenger troubled as he struggles to end Arsenal’s seven-year trophy drought. “I was close to building a team that would have had more than enough quality to win trophies,” Wenger quipped. “Fabregas, Adebayor, Van Persie and Nasri playing together would have been very successful, but we lost them all in a short period. It’s has been so frustrating to see a young player come to Arsenal, make th

Mikel Arteta Not Happy With The 0-0's Draw At Stoke

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta was not happy with today’s 0-0 draw at Stoke saying that the result was simply not good enough. Talking to Sky Sports 1 after the match Arteta said: “It (two points from the first two games) is not good enough. We wanted the three points, but it is a hard place to come and try to get the points.” ‘We had some really good chances but at the moment we are not taking them, the same thing happened last week. ‘We are making them and conceding few chances to the opposition but we lost two points again today.’ Defensively, however, Arsenal looked solid and dealt with the physical threat of the hosts. Arteta was keen to praise the backline and talk up the ability of the new signings Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski. ‘You know if you concede fouls and throw-ins they can put you in trouble because they get the ball in the box and are really organised at set pieces,’ he said. ‘We didn’t concede many chances and were well organise

Manchester City are planning a late swoop for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, after missing out on Roma’s Daniele De Rossi.

ESPN suggest that the Premier League champions have tabled a bid for the France international , who has been persistently linked with a move to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur throughout the summer.  Neither club are yet to agree on a fee for the tough tackling midfielder, leaving the door open for a late bid from Manchester City. Roma enforcer De Rossi had been a long term target of Roberto Mancini, but following the Italian’s strong reiteration to continue his career at his boyhood club, the Italian manager has been left with no choice but to investigate other options. Having also been seemingly been put off the valuation of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez, M’Vila may been seen as a viable target as the Italian manager seeks to reinforce his midfield. Meanwhile, Swansea City winger Scott Sinclair on the brink of sealing a £5 million move to Eastlands, with the move to be c

Capoue Remains On Arsenal’s Radar

Arsenal are considering an approach for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue, who has been a target for the North London side since the beginning of the summer. When the Gunners decided to sell Alex Song to Barcelona, several names were mentioned as potential replacement, and French duo Yann M’Vila and Etienne Capoue were among them. 24-year-old Capoue has enjoyed a successful past 12 months in Ligue 1, putting in some outstanding performances for his club side which earned him his first cap for France earlier this year. He has often been overlooked by France in favour of the more well-known Yann M’Vila, also an Arsenal target, but during this past season has shown he is more than capable of putting in some big performances, M’Vila meanwhile, has struggled. “I am still a Toulouse player but anything can happen”  ~ Etienne Capoue Speaking to Canal plus this evening, Capoue gave little hint as to where his future lies. Barcelona were also interested in t

Arsenal to sell midfielder to Milan?

Milan spark interest in Denilson by TS So after today’s disappointing result against Stoke, we have to wonder whether an established striker should now be on AW’s mind. However, that’s another article altogether. Perhaps, the likes of this topic( If it comes to be) will inspire AW to invest in another striker. So we all know there’s a lot of news and speculation about who might come into our squad but today a report has come out suggesting who may be leaving. Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is in the market for a defensive midfielder and Denilson is thought to be on his radar. The player is currently on-loan at Sao Paulo after finding his first-team chances at the Emirates limited. The 24 year old Brazilian came through the youth ranks at Sao Paulo before joining Arsenal in August 2006. Arsenal Hot On The Trail Of Mbiwa

Image
by Richard on August 26, 2012 with 0 Comments in All Categories , Arsenal News , Transfer News Arsenal are hot on the trail of highly rated Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa but will have to battle hard to convince him to join the Gunners instead of his preferred choice, AC Milan. Arsene Wenger has spent all summer looking for an extra defender to add to his squad in the hope that in the event of a injury crisis in the defensive department – like the one the Gunners suffered last season – Arsenal will be able to cope. Last season the team struggled to produce consistent displays after they were left without any fullbacks for a time after they all picked up injuries which meant Wenger was often forced to play central defenders at fullback. Mbiwa is seen as the perfect addition to the squad, he can play anywhere across the back four and had been sounded out by Wenger in recent weeks as one of his top targets, but Montpellier are unlikely to ev
