As expected, Aston Villa started with a high tempo and tried to put us under serious pressure, which paid such dividends for Borussia Dortmund in the week. But the Arsenal players did not crumble under it this time and managed to pass and play our way around it. The introduction of Cazorla certainly made a difference and Ozil was looking better, but Aaron Ramsey looked like the player of two seasons ago rather than the superstar of last season. It was a frantic first 15, though, and Arsene Wenger must have been glad to see his team stand up to it. And then Rambo had a great chance from a

Borussia Dortmund vs Arsenal: Post-Match Report

Arsenal faced Borussia Dortmund after a good outing against Manchester City. A very weak Arsenal showed that the team is in need of desperate help defensively (our fellow writer Scott spoke about the defensive crisis ) and lost the game 2-0 against a very strong Dortmund team led by Ciro Immobile and Aubameyang. After the break, the ULTRA SPECIAL MATCH REPORT!!!!! Sorry, just trying to cheer you up.   The game was overall one-sided. Arsenal started the game out by losing the ball…a lot…and yeah I literally mean they couldn’t chain up five passes at a time. Would’ve been a  miracle if they did. The clearest chance came from a Ramsey pass to Welbeck. And I swear, in that moment I saw myself celebrating being the smartest son of a gun by starting him in my Fantasy League. Well guess what? When United fans tell you his finishing should be rated -2, they are not joking. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the signing, but come on Danny that pass was a beauty! Since we are

Wenger: Vermaelen could leave

Friday 1st August 2014 14:16 Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger plans to make more signings this summer but admits captain Thomas Vermaelen could leave the Emirates. Wenger has already spent over £60m on the signings of Mathieu Debuchy, Alexis Sanchez, David Ospina and Calum Chambers and the Frenchman is confident of making more additions to his squad. “I’m still open to do more and let’s not forget we are on the first of August today and the transfer window closes on the first of September," he said. “For years, it’s been a long time sitting with you here on the first of August having done quite a lot so we are a bit ahead of what we usually do. The availability on the market was bigger and earlier than before. “The bigger clubs have done their deals early and when one starts, everybody follows and that’s why it was a bit quicker. “Many clubs decided to do it before the World Cup and after the World Cup, not a lot has happened but I thin

Bryan Thomson  •  Pluto's Ponderings August 1, 2014  3 All Arsenal’s Signings show fundamental changes in policy and attitude Good morning/afternoon/evening you Arsenal crazed beauty. How are you this fine day/eve? It’s good to metaphorically see you again here on Gunners Town. If truth be told, I missed you, you handsome devil you. If it weren’t patently obvious, I’m quite chipper as I begin composing my post this fine Thursday eve. Quite chipper indeed. You see, I’m quite a fan of the way in which our summer is shaping up. It’s been one hell of a ride so far in terms of recruitment for us, and for a multitude of reasons too. In fact, each of those reasons can be exemplified by each of the individual signing. Not quite following? Let me explain thusly. I have pictures and everything.
