While Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott were catching the eye for England at Wembley another of Arsenal’s internationals had a very memorable match indeed. Tomas Rosicky had to make a mad dash off the pitch after suffering what was described as an ‘intestinal problem’ during Czech Republic’s 2-0 win over Turkey. For those not fluent in PC talk that means he suffered from a rather acute attack of diarrhoea during the game; he put it down to nerves.

Arsenal face some defensive concerns ahead of the game with Sunderland this weekend as Thomas Vermaelen AND Laurent Koscielny are both doubtful for the fixture. Vermaelen was already troubled by an ankle injury ahead of the game but Laurent Koscielny limped out of action for France during their international friendly with Germany last night. Arsene Wenger may have to call upon veteran misfit Sebastian Squillaci or young Spaniard Ignasi Miquel if neither recovers in time.

According to The Daily Mail Wenger has instructed his team of scouts to start looking for a replacement right back. Despite the Frenchman recently announcing his desire to stay at the club until the end of his current deal the club are not interested in offering him an improvement on his contract so he is therefore expected to leave The Emirates in 2014. Arsenal will want to cash in on the player with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain interested and they are now searching for a replacement.

Arsenal will follow up late January interest in French international Etienne Capoue this summer. The Toulouse midfielder is believed to want to leave the club this summer and the holding midfielder has been tracked by many clubs over the past couple of seasons. The move may hinge on the successful pursuit of Champions League football this campaign.

Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy has admitted he is ‘flattered’ at being linked with bigger clubs. The Scotland international, 22, is reportedly courting interest from Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool. He also spoke clearly about his decision to consider his options at the end of the season ahead of a potential move away.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs has spoken today about how his career could have ended up very differently; if Wimbledon had not gone bust. The England international was 13 with the club went bust and after a few sessions with new team MK Dons decided to look at an option closer to his home in Croydon and ended up at Arsenal.
