Kagawa and Van Persie, A Brilliant Pairing/ Alexander Buttner News

After watching the first two ManU games this season, I have many worries and concerns for the team but one bright spot for me is the acquisitions of Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie. The two players were both fantastic before coming to United, but together they have unlimited potential. With many other players up in the air, Rooney and his surgical issues, Berbatov feeling left out, Nani looking like he is trying way too hard to score and being a ball hog in the process, it’s nice to have at least one bright spot on the team.

The way Kagawa and RvP played together against Fulham on Saturday was amazing. They could have 5 or 6 on the board had they been perfect, which for those to players is not really asking that much. I am sure as the season progresses we will see even more awesome goals, and if other big name players like Rooney or Danny Welbeck can join in on the fun United may be setup for another wonderful year in the EPL.

After the game against Fulham Coach Ferguson said “The first-half performance was fantastic, It could have been five, six, anything. But we made a terrible mistake for the second goal and it becomes a match. Before that it had never been a match.” He went on to say that he also believes that as the two play together more they will develop more and more until they are an unstoppable team. And it seems Ferguson is intent on operating with someone occupying a deeper role behind Van Persie. “We normally do that, whether it is Wayne who plays in that role, or Danny Welbeck can do it,” said Ferguson. “Ashley Young and Ryan Giggs can play there.

We have options that way.” And even other coaches in the league have this same opinion, especially Martin Jol coach of Fulham. Jol coached in Germany and was exposed to Kagawa there, this exposure gave him the knowledge of what he can do and what he can setup for other players. Although the loss of Rooney, for now what seems will be around two months is going to be huge, it will be very interesting to see if the duo can carry United through the middle of the season and even further, because who knows how well Rooney will even play upon his return to United.
Alexander Buttner
There may be help in the near future though. It looks as though Alexander Buttner will be joining United very soon. The 23-year-old could even have been playing for Fulham, the visitors to Old Trafford on Saturday, had the boss not made a dramatic swoop last weekend to strike a deal with Vitesse Arnhem. “Southampton, Fulham and another club made bids and he was close to a move,” revealed Sir Alex. “We’d been monitoring the situation when he turned down Southampton, but we thought it was going to be pretty pricey. However, his contract was up next year so we moved in on the Thursday or Friday.

We had to do it quickly.” Buttner is capable of providing a goal threat from left-back after initially playing further up the field.” Buttner has made good progress in the last year and is on the verge of the Dutch national team,” added Sir Alex. “He’s a good last third of the field player who makes chances and can score goals. He’s scored five or six goals last season which, for a full-back, is quite good. We’re delighted to have him here’’. I agree 100% with Sir Alex, with Buttner’s addition and Kagawa and RVP getting things rolling this team could be rolling on all cylinders before Rooney even makes his return. What an exciting season this will be!
