Arsenal given the opportunity to pull away from the pack

After Chelsea’s defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park, Arsenal can now open up a big gap if they can beat Liverpool this evening.
The Gunners are atop of the Premier League table with 22 points, Liverpool are second with 20 points, and Chelsea are also on 20 points – with the Blues having played a game more and now with an inferior goal difference.
Victory for Arsenal would see them open up a five point gap between Liverpool and Chelsea, with fourth place Tottenham to play on Sunday.
With only 10 games played, it’s nevertheless a fantastic opportunity for Arsenal to get back on track after being sent crashing back down to earth of late.
They will have a near full strength side to choose from against Liverpool, and they boast having lost just once to the Merseyside outfit in their last six games. Liverpool’s last win against the Gunners came in 2011, but their new-look side stand far more of a chance given respective form of late.
Victory for Arsenal will see them with eights wins from ten games, while stretching their unbeaten run of nine games. The only flaw for the side is the lack of clean sheets in the EPL this campaign (2).
