Wenger confirms Flamini concussion

Image
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mathieu Flamini was suffering with concussion when he substituted him in Arsenal's win over Norwich City. The Frenchman was withdrawn after 37 minutes of Saturday's 4-1 home victory following a clash of heads with Alexander Tettey, and Wenger admitted that he could miss the UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. "He had concussion," Wenger said. "He had double vision, so on the advice of the doctor I took him off because I did not want to take any gamble. "I don't know if he'll be available for Dortmund, it depends now what the doctors will decide. "Sometimes they are not allowed to play for five days, it depends how big the concussion was." His absence would represent a significant setback for Arsenal, with the midfielder having impressed since returning to the club from Milan. Flamini's form has been one of many bright spots in what has been an excellent

Arsenal And Manchester City To Lock Horns For Lewandowski

Image
Manchester City and Arsenal will go head -to-head in a battle to sign Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund. It was reported that the Polish striker would move to Bayern Munich once his contract is expired at the end of the season, but that move has supposedly cooled. That has alerted Premier League giants City and Arsenal who are both plotting huge contract offers in a bid to entice Lewandowski to move to England. According to the  Mirror , City boss Manuel Pellegrini is even open to the offer of letting Edin Dzeko move in the other direction to push through a deal. Arsene Wenger has also openly admitted that he would like a new striker to add strength and depth to his strike force. Although in fine form, Olivier Giroud remains their only key first choice striker as it seems new signing Yaya Sanogo is not yet ready to make the step up. Lewandowski has admitted in the past that he would like to move to the Premier League one day and that move could be soo

By  enigma106 Ozil proves his worth yet again Emirates Stadium (Premier League) Arsenal – Wilshere 18′, Ozil 58′, 88′, Ramsey 83′; Norwich – Howson 70′ With the international break done and dusted, Premier League football graced our screens once again as the lunchtime kickoff between Newcastle and Liverpool set the tone but the draw on Tyneside gave Arsenal the onus, as Arsene Wenger’s men knew that a victory would be enough to solidify their status as the top dog in the league. In my  match preview , I had predicted a lineup but some injury returnees made very swift returns as Bacary Sagna and Santi Cazorla were deemed fit to start the game with Tomas Rosicky on the bench. The mouthwatering prospect of watching Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil play together for the first time made some fans drool. As expected, Arsenal began the game on the ascendancy when Jack Wilshere combined well with Cazorla on the edge of the area but the Spaniard’s left-footed tame shot was easy p

French hitman alerts Arsenal boss to move?

Newcastle United forward and Arsenal target Loic Remy has not decided where his future lies. The Magpies have Remy on loan from Queens Park Rangers who were relegated to the Championship last season. The French striker has scored five league goals in five appearances for the Magpies so far this season and boss Alan Pardew is apparently keen to make the move permanent. However, Remy has offered little encouragement and has opened the door for Arsene Wenger to make a swoop after admitting he has no idea where his future lies Remy told reporters: “I am really enjoying it at Newcastle, but what happens next I don’t know. For the moment, the question of staying beyond my loan period is not in my head. “It is a good question, but we have time to decide.” Although Newcastle want him, he would like to play for a Champions League side and that gives the us the edge in the chase

Arsenal vs. Norwich: Premier League preview

by David Nugent In-form Arsenal host strugglers Norwich at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday looking to continue their good run of form. The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League table on goals scored after drawing 1-1 with West Brom in their last top-flight outing. The Gunners opponents Norwich have made a poor start to their Premier League campaign and are currently third from bottom in the top-flight table. The Canaries suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Chelsea prior to the international break and will be looking to gain a shock victory in north London against the Gunners. However, that could be difficult as the men from Norfolk have only claimed two victories in the top-flight this season and the home side have not suffered defeat since the opening day defeat against Aston Villa. The visitors have also struggled to find the net this season, scoring just five goals in the Premier League so far. The home sides form is very impressive, the Gunners having won five out of

Look out Norwich, Arsenal stars are back from injury!!

By Bob Arsenal vs. Norwich will see the return of several stars!  by Ash Now the international break is finally over once again all the players will return to training with their respective clubs and Arsenal have some good injury news for once. Arsenal will line up against Norwich City at the Emirates this Saturday and hopefully with a bit of luck we could see a few Arsenal stars back in and amongst the line-up. Arsenal have got one of the worst current injury lists, however this week off for the international break has actually been quite useful because it has allowed players to recover from both injury and exhaustion, as well as allowing the management team to keep a close eye on any changes they are interested in making. Arsenal fans will be glad to hear that Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott are likely to return to first team training this week, whilst there’s also a small chance that Lukas Podolski could also return. Cazorla has been nursing an ankle injury f

Aaron Ramsey needs to do more

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey insists there is plenty more to come from him despite starting the 2013-14 season in the form of his life.  The Arsenal and Wales midfielder has scored 10 goals this season, already more than any previous completed campaign, and he has been one of his club's key players in their rise to the top of the Premier League.  Ramsey continued to impress for Wales in their 1-1 draw with Belgium in midweek, scoring their late equaliser, and the current Barclays Premier League Player of the Month feels he can take his performances to an even higher level.  He said: "I think there is more to come, I'm still only 22, I still need to do better and learn a few more things but the boss (Arsene Wenger) is telling me about that, things like positioning defensively.  "So there's definitely more to come and I'm looking forward to that. When you haven't got the ball, while we're defending - sometimes I am not always where I need to be.  &qu
