Well it is about time that Arsenal fans had something to cheer about today, as Sky Sports are reporting right now that the Gunners have put in a bid for Yohan Cabaye, and Newcastle have accepted it! So now Arsenal have a couple of hours to agree personal terms and check him over before the window shuts. Cabaye has been linked with Arsenal for the last few days after it was originally assumed that we were after his midfield Toon team-mate Chieck Tiote – but it seems that those rumours were wide of the mark. When it was originally reported that Arsenal were chasing Tiote, Wenger responded by saying: ‘I’m pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something. Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available. Little Russian and Arsenal midfielder  Andrey Arshavin  has confirmed that he will remain a Gunner this season despite his contract expiring in 12 months time. Asked by  Sport Express  as to whether he would be staying at the Emirates this season, Andrey replied with a ‘yes’. Arshavin was bought on deadline day in 2009 and started his career at the Emirates with a bang, but unfortunately his form dramatically decreased. He has often been criticised for being lazy, highlighted by his reluctance to drop back and help out to defend or create space for himself, which largely means he remains static on the wing. While it is true that Arshavin plays better through the middle, I still think he could have made more of an effort and even cut-in from the flank at times if he wanted to have some influence in the middle of midfield.
