Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin Will Remain In Emirate

Little Russian and Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin  has confirmed that he will remain a Gunner this season despite his contract expiring in 12 months time.
Asked by Sport Express as to whether he would be staying at the Emirates this season, Andrey replied with a ‘yes’.
Arshavin was bought on deadline day in 2009 and started his career at the Emirates with a bang, but unfortunately his form dramatically decreased.

He has often been criticised for being lazy, highlighted by his reluctance to drop back and help out to defend or create space for himself, which largely means he remains static on the wing.

While it is true that Arshavin plays better through the middle, I still think he could have made more of an effort and even cut-in from the flank at times if he wanted to have some influence in the middle of midfield. He did have a good first few months in that position so we know he is able to play there.

Due to his lack of playing time at the Emirates last season, in order to secure a Euro 2012 spot Arshavin joined Zenit St. Peterburg on loan in earlier this year in order to get more match-time under his belt.

From that ordeal, it seemed Arshavin would be offloaded permanently this transfer window with Zenit stating publicly stating they were interested in his signature.

Although, it was not to be and it seems Arsenal’s valuation has likely meant no-one is interested in taking the little Russian on a permanent basis.
