Official: Runar Alex Runarsson signs for Arsenal

Image
Arsenal have completed a deal to sign Runar Alex Runarsson from Dijon today, as confirmed by their official website. Runarsson joined Dijon from FC Nordsjaelland, and although he started as first choice, underwhelming performances saw him lose his place to Alfred Gomis. He played 45 games for the Ligue 1 side. His signing has been championed by goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana Pavon who worked with him in Denmark, and that relationship played a key part in Arsenal’s decision to bring him in. The goalkeeper will come in as replacement for Emiliano Martinez, who quit the club to join Aston Villa last week. Welcome to The Arsenal, Alex Runarsson 🔴 👋 @runaralex — Arsenal (@Arsenal) September 21, 2020 Football.London claims the goalkeeper has cost just £1 Million, which could well give us a much-needed boost to our finances as we look to strengthen our midfield, with strong links with both Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey. Runarsson will wear the number 13 shirt this seas

Aston Villa complete signing of £20,000-a-week Arsenal goalkeeper

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will turn his attention back to off the field issues after guiding the Gunners to a magnificent win over Fulham in their opening Premier League fixture. Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes both made a huge impact on debut, and Arteta will be hoping he can bring in more quality additions before the end of the transfer window. The main talking point at the Emirates Stadium right now is around the goalkeeper situation.  Emiliano Martinez is understood to be nearing a move away from the club, while David Raya from Brentford is being lined up as his replacement. Emiliano Martinez has completed a medical with Aston Villa ahead of a £20m move away from Arsenal. The Argentine goalkeeper was left out of the squad that beat Fulham on Saturday, with Bernd Leno returning to the starting XI from a long-term injury. Martinez made it clear to the club that he would be packing his bags if he wasn’t made number one, having played an important role in Arsenal’s FA Cup an

The 22-year-old defender joins the club from Lille for around £27m in what is a major coup for Mikel Arteta's side. Fans have been waiting patiently for the deal to be announced and wishes were finally granted across Arsenal's official social media channels today. The Brazilian joined fellow countrymen Willian and David Luiz in a video group chat, meaning Arsenal fans can now look forward to the 22-year-old's debut. Gabriel is revered as one of the best young defenders in the world after a breakthrough season in Ligue 1 last season. Both Manchester United and Napoli were heavily linked with a move for the young centre-back, but Gabriel simply couldn't turn down the prospect of playing regularly for Arsenal under Arteta. The Brazilian is set to be a key member of the Gunners' first-team in 2020/21 alongside fellow new defensive arrival, William Saliba. Arsenal legend Martin Keown was full of praise for Gabriel when discussing the youngster's progress at L

Arsenal Have Confirmed the Signing of Nigerian-Born Midfielder Tim Akinola

English Premier League side Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Nigerian-born midfielder Tim Akinola on undisclosed terms. Though the length of contract signed by the former Huddersfield Town starlet has not been disclosed by the Gunners, allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that he is committed to the Emirates Stadium outfit until June 30, 2022, having put pen to paper on a two-year contract. The 19-year-old has already started training with his new teammates at Arsenal U23s ahead of the new season. Akinola is eligible to represent Nigeria and England at international level, however, it is believed that his heart is with Nigeria. Four years ago, he trialed with Team Nigeria UK and was supposed to travel with the team for a friendly against the Golden Eaglets in Lagos but the match was called off by the Nigeria Football Federation at the last minute because of the cost of flying the Nigeria U17s from Abuja to Lagos. During his time with Lincoln City, he was named on

Sanllehi : I've no anger, I'll always be a Gooner!

Former Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi says there is no bad blood amid his exit. The club announced Sanllehi's departure abruptly, as there was no indication he was set to move on after three years at the club. But Saturday was the end of his tenure, with Vinai Venkatesham absorbing his responsibilities as managing director. "It is with mixed feelings that I end my professional relationship with Arsenal. As said, many mixed (and contradictory) feelings arise, from deep sadness to full pride and gratefulness to have been given the opportunity to work in such a special club alongside the best professionals and human beings I've met over my 25 years in the industry," Sanllehi said in a statement released by Gooner Talk. "I will continue a Gooner for the rest of my days, and I will be celebrating every goal and title they (we) achieve in the coming years. "I said I had many contradictory feelings at this time, many, but one I don't have is ange

Jersey Number 12 to Willian at Arsenal as Gunners sign the Brazilian for Free

Image
Willian has a new shirt number which is 12 wore by the famous Olivier Giroud at Arsenal, after signing on a free transfer from Chelsea on Friday following the conclusion of his contract at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal confirmed Willian will take 12 for his shirt number next season, after completing his move to the club. Stephan Lichtsteiner was the most recent player to wear the number, with Olivier Giroud, Thierry Henry, Carlos Vela and Lauren as the other four in the last 20 years. Hopefully, Willian will perform significantly more impressively for Arsenal than Lichtsteiner did. The Gunners signed the right-back on an initial one-year deal with the option to extend for a further two, but they ended up giving up on him before the first year was even up. By contrast, Willian has a three-year deal with Arsenal, with no options to cut it short or extend it. That doesn’t rule out selling him before the three years are up, of course. Normally, I judge shirt numbers based positions. Three
