Parlour: Arsenal Do Not Need David Villa.


Former Arsenal winger Ray Parlour believes fans of the club should not worry after they failed to sign Barcelona striker David Villa.  

villaThe Gunners had been interested in Villa for a number of months but the Catalan club refused any approach and boss Arsene Wenger has put an end to a possible move.
However, Parlour believes his former side can still have a successful season.
“I really thought he might go and strengthen, at least bring in one player in, but it appears David Villa didn’t want to come to Arsenal,” he told talkSPORT.
“I’m sure the scouting system is working hard to find players for Arsene Wenger, but nothing has fit the bill.
“It looks like he’s not going to buy anyone at the moment and he’ll have to go until the end of the season with the squad he’s got.
“If Olivier Giroud can bang a few goals in then he can fire them into fourth place.

Arsenal are reportedly running the rule over young Dutch international Jetro Willems as Arsene Wenger looks to ably add strength in depth to the left side of the Gunners defence. The teenage PSV Eindhoven starlet was part of Bert Van Marwijk’s Euro 2012 squad and is a player who has shown a great deal of potential since his move to the Philips Stadion in the summer of 2011.
