Arsenal latest: Ramsey return and Mandzukic brick wall
The latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this evening.
Arsenal could have Aaron Ramsey back for the weekend clash against Fulham. The Welshman, who has been one of the clubs star players so far this season, has been out since picking up a thigh strain in the Boxing Day fixture against West Ham.
His return could be very timely. Tomas Rosicky suffered a suspected broken nose in the game against Aston Villa on Monday night and is set to miss the game.
Meanwhile Nacho Monreal could also miss out with a foot problem.
Mesut Ozil has been singing the praises of Tomas Rosicky today. The German summer signing claimed he is one of the ‘best midfielders in the Premier League’:
"In my opinion Tomas belongs to the best midfielders in the Premier League. When you see how much he gives for the team and how he enjoys being on the ball it makes us happy to have a player like that in our ranks."
“It’s a situation that’s never been considered. He has a contract that expires in 2015 and he’s very important to Juventus. If he ends up leaving Turin, it will be to a permanent destination, especially since he’s now proven his value. Fiorentina? They’ve never even asked about him.”
Serge Gnabry has given the fans assurances that he will not be leaving Arsenal this summer - despite interest from Borussia Dortmund.
The teenage winger stated on his Facebook stage:
"BVB?? I'm happy in Arsenal."
Arsenal’s apparent approach for Mario Mandzukic appears set to hit a brick wall. The Croatian has been tipped for a move - with the arrival of Robert Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena this summer potentially threatening his position at the club.
But Bayern are said to be readying a new deal for the player - with chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stating:
"We will keep Mandzukic and will try to extend his contract.”
And of course the biggest news from the Arsenal perspective today revolves around Julian Draxler of Schalke 04.
The club are reportedly ready to bring the player in for a fee in the region of his £37 million summer release clause.
However conflicting reports over his injury struggles threaten the stability of such a deal.
