Arsenal are clear favourites to beat Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League clash, with Marco Reus joining eight other players on the sidelines.
Borussia Dortmund are suffering injury after injury ahead of their UEFA Champions League tie with Arsenal, with Marco Reus now a huge doubt for the October 22nd game.
The Germany international forward tore a ligament in his ankle in his club’s 2-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach, and has had to pull out of his country’s FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.
Reus joins club captain Sebastian Kehl, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Marcel Schmelzer, Lukasz Piszczek, Ilkay Gundogan, Sven Bender, Nuri Sahin and Jonas Hofmann on the sidelines, meaning that Borussia Dortmund could be missing nine first team players for their clash with the Gunners.
For once, Arsenal are in the opposite situation, with the international break coming at the perfect time for the north London side.
Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott and Yaya Sanogo could all have returned to full fitness in time for Dortmund’s visit, though Abou Diaby, Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are likely to be longer absences.
Still, in their current form and fitness, Arsenal will have to be considered clear favourites for the match against Borussia Dortmund at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday 22nd October.
