Podolski set for early Arsenal comeback

Podolski nears Arsenal return! by Ash
Lukas Podolski has some very good news for Arsenal fans, writing on his official Instagram account, along with a picture: ‘An intensive week of training found its end. I’m working hard for my comeback!’ The Arsenal striker has been out with injury ever since Arsenal’s second Champions League qualifying leg against Fenerbahce at the Emirates, five weeks ago. The injury was picked up in ridiculous circumstances because it wasn’t a footballing injury; it was self-inflicted, purely because Podolski hadn’t stretched enough in the warm up for the second half. It was a mystery injury which was then later revealed to be a muscle strain in his hamstring.
Normally hamstring injuries can last anything from a few days to a few months, depending on its severity, however unfortunately for Arsenal and the player himself, it was a long term issue and as a result it means Podolski has already had to miss a lot of football this season. If he is in intensive training, he could even be back sooner than the Crystal Palace game on 26th October that physioroom.com have as his comeback. The home tie against Borussia Dortmund is four days before that, and I’m sure Podolski would love to be able to play in that, so will be working very hard to be in contention.
He had injury and fitness problems last year as well, so badly that he struggled to stay on the pitch for the full 90 minutes because of a persistent ankle injury as well as his fitness issues. The fitness issues are no doubt something he has worked on over the summer, but of course it was expected bearing in mind he wasn’t used to the high level intensity of the Premier League, nor the fact that the rest of Europe has a winter break.
Upon return this season, Podolski made an instant comeback, producing two well taken goals in the game vs. Fulham and it was such a shame he became injured in the next game because he was really proving the talent that we haven’t really witnessed during his time with the club so far. Giroud has been great so far, but we really need Walcott and Podolski back to take the pressure of our big Frenchman.
I must admit I am not as impressed with the German international as I thought I would be and I was certainly expecting much more from him, however I don’t doubt his talent at all and I think with Ozil now in the side as well, Podolski could become a better player for us!
