Nicklas Bendtner scores a brace on international duty

By Crippy Cooke
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will have been happy with striker Nicklas Bendtner as the Denmark international recently scored twice against Italy in a World Cup Qualifier.
While his side drew 2-2, the 25-year old will be pleased he’s finally back in the Denmark setup and is now scoring goals again. After Wenger gave him a chance to prove himself with Arsenal and to work his way back into the first-team, Bendtner wants to take the chance with both hands.
While the striker was initially brought back to provide cover for first-choice Olivier Giroud, he could well provide Wenger with another option in attack.
Bendtner is yet to make a league start for the side this season, but he played the full 120 minutes of Arsenal’s Capital One Cup game against West Bromwich Albion – and scored in the resulting penalty shoot out.
He’ll certainly be keen to amass more minutes as the weeks go on, but scoring again for the Denmark national team will do wonders for his confidence as it was previously thought he would never play for them again before this season. Wenger will surely be delighted to see him among the goals again.
