WOW – Could Arsenal really get Lewandowski for a measly £7m?

Arsenal could grab Lewandowski on the cheap! by Ash
Arsenal spent a huge amount of the summer transfer window looking for a suitable player to either be a backup to Frenchman Olivier Giroud or to support him in the attack and many of the names mentioned were those under the category of ‘world class’ players. Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema were all linked to the Gunners at one point over the course of the summer but unfortunately we failed to secure the signing of any of them.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom however, because it did mean we brought in powerful assist king Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and, although he has helped the club massively so far this campaign, one area that is still under scrutiny is the club’s attacking front line. Currently we only have Olivier Giroud as a striker of real quality. Other players like Akpom and Sanogo are nothing more than reserves, whilst Podolski and Walcott both get mixed reviews when playing through the middle, so it’s become very apparent that Arsenal still need to buy a central striker and possibly as early as January. The good news is that a world class striker could be available on the cheap once the winter transfer window arrives.
Borussia Dortmund and Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski is one of Europe’s most talked about talents because his powerful nature and eye for goal have made him a real poacher in and around the box. With 10 goals already this season, including a perfectly placed driven goal against Arsenal at the Emirates has supposedly got Arsene Wenger interested and with the 25 year old stating his intentions to move on from Dortmund upon his contract expiration in the summer, it has been reported that the German superclub could be willing to sell their main man for less than £7 million in January, according to a Daily Star report, just so they can get some money from a player that will definitely leave them at some point over the course of the campaign.
I think Lewandowski is a top striker who would fit into most team’s starting line ups. If Arsenal could get the front man for either the £7 million touted or on a free transfer in the summer it would be a major coup for the Gunners and it would mean we finally have a top class striker ready to latch onto the perfect passes from our magnificent midfield. Let’s be clear here in saying that Giroud has certainly improved and he does have quality in him there is no doubt about that, but if there is even the slightest chance of signing Lewandowski at some point we cannot afford to turn that opportunity down.
Arsenal have a chance next week to overturn the unlucky defeat by Dortmund, and a great performance and win from us could have the added bonus of proving to Lewandowski that the Gunners would be a great move for him.
