5) Dejan Lovren – Lyon to Southampton for £8m
The Saints sit joint fourth in the Premier League, and boast the best defensive record in the Premier League table so far, having only conceded two goals all season. New centre-half signing Lovren has had a big part to play in Southampton’s clean sheets, and also bagged the winner against Liverpool at Anfield.

Borrowing a striker that cost £18m and scored 17 Premier League goals last season is a complete no-brainer… Luckily for the Toffees, they managed to secure the season long loan deal for the powerful young Belgian, and he’s already started repaying them, scoring in his first league appearance. 3) Kolo Toure – Manchester City to Liverpool on free transfer
Snapping up Toure on a freebie from City is looking like a fantastic piece of business for Brendan Rodgers. The Ivorian has slotted straight into Liverpool’s versatile four-man or three-man backline, and has looked completely accomplished in any role he has been asked to play. Toure is comfortable on the ball, but more importantly, provides the side with the experience it lost when Jamie Carragher retired in the summer.

2) Christian Eriksen – Ajax to Tottenham for £11m 
Eriksen’s arrival has made the Gareth Bale departure much easier for Spurs fans. Why did Eriksen only cost £11m, and why did no other clubs try to sign him? The Danish playmaker has settled into the Spurs lineup brilliantly in the no.10 position, and has completely outshone £26m record signing Erik Lamela. Tottenham sit second in the table, just two points behind their north London rivals Arsenal.

The world-class German playmaker has quite simply turned Arsene Wenger’s side from top four hopefuls into genuine title contenders. Arsenal currently top the table thanks to five consecutive victories, and Ozil has started life at the Emirates brilliantly, registering four assists already. He cost huge money, but he was worth every penny.

The club have described the problem as tightness in the muscle, rather than a pull or a tear, which indicates the Ghanaian international won’t be out of contention for too long. Oleksandr Zinchenko also missed the game on Saturday and it’s unlikely that he’ll be spending much time on the treatment table either. The Ukrainian international has a minor sprain in his left knee and he was left out for the Fulham match as a precaution. It would suggest that the defender will be available to face Aston Villa on Wednesday evening, while Partey may need a bit longer to recover. Official: Runar Alex Runarsson signs for Arsenal

Arsenal have completed a deal to sign Runar Alex Runarsson from Dijon today, as confirmed by their official website. Runarsson joined Dijon from FC Nordsjaelland, and although he started as first choice, underwhelming performances saw him lose his place to Alfred Gomis. He played 45 games for the Ligue 1 side. His signing has been championed by goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana Pavon who worked with him in Denmark, and that relationship played a key part in Arsenal’s decision to bring him in. The goalkeeper will come in as replacement for Emiliano Martinez, who quit the club to join Aston Villa last week.
