Wenger Rules out Song Exit

digg Email Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear that any chance of midfielder Alex Song leaving the Emirates stadium for Barcelona are slim-to-none. It had been reported by numerous sources that the Cameroon international had drawn interest from the Spanish heavyweights who were tipped to make a bid in the region of £20m for his services. Song himself also stated that despite the interest shown from Barcelona, he was still happy with Arsenal at the Emirates and hopefully will be for years to come seeing as he has three years to run on his current contract. Wenger is quoted by Sky Sports as saying on the situation: There’s nothing going on with Song. There’s nothing in that. Song has three years [on his] contract, he’s not in the same situation as Robin Van Persie. In Spain the newspapers are not really serious. We’ve had the experience of that. We’ve never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona. Personally speaking, I can only think that Song will be let go if Barcelona come up with a massive bid considering Song still has three years to run on his contract. In saying this however, we all know the financial situation of Barcelona so I would like to say that we are likely to see Song playing this weekend in an Arsenal shirt! What do you guys think? ON  JANUARY 15, 2014  • BY  BOB I know that it seems Arsenal are taking one step forward and two steps back on the injury front recently, somehow it seems that the Gunners are just about getting away with it. It really is amazing that Arsenal have managed to stay at the top of the Premier League so long while carrying more injuries than all of our rivals, but we have and as long as the bad run of luck does not keep going, Arsenal look set to have an almost full squad to choose from going into a the tough business end of the season. Two more Arsenal players picked up injuries in the away win against Aston Villa. Tomas Rosicky seems to have broken his nose, while Nacho Monreal took a whack to his foot and there are fears he may have fractured a metatarsal. Arsenal 0-2 Swansea

I wrote on Friday that Arsenal`s recent away draws would be better judged in the light of proceeding home results. I think we can agree that that went well. Pre match I watched Chelsea`s malaise beamed back onto the Arsenal Tavern screens, their despair burned onto LCD display for a crowd of cheering patrons. Usually Chelsea`s misery is my meat, but somehow I felt to delight in their plight would be premature. Arsene made some changes to the side that drew with Goodison on a bitterly cold day in North London. Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs came in for the injured Laurent Koscielny and Bacary Sagna. Lukas Podolski came back from illness and was awarded his chance as a centre forward, with Gervinho and Walcott flanking him.
