Inter Joins The Race To Sign Theo Walcott by AM
Inter Milan have joined the race for the signature of Arsenal winger Theo Walcott. Earlier this summer, Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with a move for the English International.
Theo Walcott has entered the last year of his contract at Arsenal, and is yet to extend his contract at the club. With the arrivals of Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski, many believe Wenger could sell Theo if the price is right, specially considering the development Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has showed over the last 12 months.
There are also the not inconsiderable talents of Gervinho and Arshavin to put into the equation. There is certainly no shortage of wingers/wide forwards in the squad.
Liverpool are rumoured to be preparing a bid for Walcott as Brendon Rodgers’ search for a winger goes on. The Liverpool manager, according to Metro, will submit an official bid for Theo this week.
Inter on the other hand, somewhat similarly to Liverpool, are in a rebuilding phase after some dismal performances last season. Andrea Stramaccioni has a tough job on his hands. He, like Brendon Rodgers, has very limited experience of managing a top flight club.
Stramaccioni has been looking to change the system at the club, by providing width to Inter’s attack, which they have lacked for some time now. In fact they were mostly dependent on their full-backs to provide any width last season. Walcott would certainly help Inter in that respect, but Arsenal might only consider offers of a substantial amount.
Maybe the most important factor is how much Walcott wants to be a Gunner. Should Wenger listen to offers for him or do whatever it takes to keep him in London?
