Will Arsenal Sell Song?

Spanish publication AS report this morning that Barcelona vice-president Josep María Bartomeu was in London yesterday to negotiate the acquisition of Alex Song. Having given up on the possibility of signing Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao, the Catalan giants are believed to have tabled an offer in the region of £15 million for the Cameroon international with the possibility of throwing Cristian Tello or Ibrahim Afellay into the mix to sweeten the deal. Under contract at the Emirates for three more years, Arsene Wenger is under no pressure to let 24-year-old Song leave. That being said, having signed him as a teenager for just £400,000 from Bastia, the boss may be tempted to take the cash on offer and redirect it towards a replacement in the last couple of weeks of the transfer window. Real Madrid’s Turkish international Nuri Sahin and Rennes star Yann M’Vila have both been heavily linked, although past history suggests we shouldn’t write off the possibility of signing of an unknown Franco-German teenager with below average quality knee cartilage. But i tell you Arsenal will be so stupid if they end up selling Song because this guy has what it takes to help arsenal win trouphies together with the new boys. Since he has more than a year on his current contract, there is no reason listenning to any offer for Song of Arsenal. What do you think guys?

Full Arsenal injury update

ON  JANUARY 15, 2014  • BY  BOB I know that it seems Arsenal are taking one step forward and two steps back on the injury front recently, somehow it seems that the Gunners are just about getting away with it. It really is amazing that Arsenal have managed to stay at the top of the Premier League so long while carrying more injuries than all of our rivals, but we have and as long as the bad run of luck does not keep going, Arsenal look set to have an almost full squad to choose from going into a the tough business end of the season. Two more Arsenal players picked up injuries in the away win against Aston Villa. Tomas Rosicky seems to have broken his nose, while Nacho Monreal took a whack to his foot and there are fears he may have fractured a metatarsal. But the Rosicky could play in a mask and Monreal could be back in a few short weeks. Arsenal 0-2 Swansea

I wrote on Friday that Arsenal`s recent away draws would be better judged in the light of proceeding home results. I think we can agree that that went well. Pre match I watched Chelsea`s malaise beamed back onto the Arsenal Tavern screens, their despair burned onto LCD display for a crowd of cheering patrons. Usually Chelsea`s misery is my meat, but somehow I felt to delight in their plight would be premature. Arsene made some changes to the side that drew with Goodison on a bitterly cold day in North London. Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs came in for the injured Laurent Koscielny and Bacary Sagna. Lukas Podolski came back from illness and was awarded his chance as a centre forward, with Gervinho and Walcott flanking him.
