Arsenal deal for Sahin could be ruined by Chelsea

Arsenal deal for Sahin could be ruined by Chelsea Posted on August 19, 2012.
It has been a convoluted process, but with Tottenham finally admitting defeat in their attempt to keep hold of their Croatian international Luka Modric, all the pieces began to slot in to place. Modric would move to Real Madrid, which would release Nuri Sahin. Sahin would come to Arsenal to replace Alex Song. Simples. But all of a sudden Chelsea are trying to throw a spanner in the works. Roman Abramovich nearly succeeded in prising Modric away from Spurs last summer, but was thought to have given up, especially after spending heavily on Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin this summer. Well, reports suggest that Chelsea’s interest has been rekindled since they realised that Tottenham were ready to sell the playmaker. It seemed that Modric had made up his mind about going to Madrid and leaving Tottenham because he wants to play for a big club and be in the Champion’s league. Chelsea could, potentially, offer him this but I hope he sticks to his original plans. If Sahin was part of Wenger’s plans, then he may only have sold Song to Barcelona because he heard that Modric was definitely going to Madrid. The Spanish newspapers report that Sahin is almost a Gunner, so as long as Jose Mourinho gets his man, Sahin should be announced next week. Assuming Sahin does come on loan, then Wenger still has plenty of money for another player or two to boost the squad. A striker and a defender would be my bet. What do you think Gooners?
