Arsenal Launch £13m Bid For French Forward Loic Remy

Arsenal are reportedly considering making a £13m bid for Marseille striker Loic Remy as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in further firepower having seen his side draw a blank in their first two Premier League encounters.

The Marseille forward has long been linked with a move to the North London side and Tottenham are said to be in talks to snap up the 25 year old French international.
Remy may well be sold by the Stade Velodrome side as Marseille look to balance the books. The former Nice striker has had two solid seasons at the club, netting 37 goals in the process, but watched on as they slipped to a poor tenth place finish last term.

Though Arsenal have brought in Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski from Montpellier and Koln respectively, Arsene Wenger may well still feel the need to beef up his attacking options after goalless draws against Sunderland and Stoke City. Indeed the sale of Robin Van Persie and the lack of viable support options have led the Gunners boss to plot another high-profile move before the transfer window slams shut.

The likes of Marouane Chamakh, Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young have all failed to make an impact and could all be sold before the end of the month, whilst the jury is still out on Ivory Coast international Gervinho, who appears more competent in a wide attacking role.

Remy may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League and could opt for a move to Arsenal over a Tottenham switch due to the chance to take part in Champions League football this season.
The consistent forward could also be enticed by the possibility of joining national team colleagues Laurent Koscielny, Bacary Sagna, Abou Diaby, Sebastien Squillaci and the aforementioned Olivier Giroud.
Though Wenger has spent around £35m to bring in Giroud, Podolski and Santi Cazorla that outlay has been more than covered by the sales of Van Persie and Alex Song and therefore the Emirates Stadium boss will have the funds to bring in much needed firepower to his Arsenal squad.
