Wenger expresses his frustration over players he turns in to stars that then go and leave

Arsene Wenger is frustrated at how he has had to rebuild his team each summer as top stars continue to leave Arsenal for other top clubs across Europe, revealed ESPN Soccernet.
Several key players have departed from the Emirates in recent years making the Arsenal squad weaker each summer. Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri left Arsenal for Manchester City whereas Cesc Fabregas left the Gunners for hometown club Barcelona. This summer, former skipper Robin van Persie moved out to bitter rivals Manchester United and Alex Song departed for the Camp Nou as well, leaving Wenger troubled as he struggles to end Arsenal’s seven-year trophy drought.

“I was close to building a team that would have had more than enough quality to win trophies,” Wenger quipped. “Fabregas, Adebayor, Van Persie and Nasri playing together would have been very successful, but we lost them all in a short period. It’s has been so frustrating to see a young player come to Arsenal, make their Premier League debut with us, prove themselves to be top players and then go somewhere else.”

The French boss has now opted to rely more on English players as they are less likely to depart for other clubs after gaining prominence with Arsenal, as was the case with Fabregas. However, Wenger remains upbeat and believes that the new look squad could prove to be serious title contenders. With young stars such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Carl Jenkinson coming through the ranks, Wenger is also hopeful that the trend of departures could soon come to an end.
