Arshavin To Zenith For £10 million

Andrei Arshavin could be on his way back to Zenit St Petersburg on a permanent basis despite the club claiming they wouldn’t be interested in a long-term deal for the player.
According to ESPN, Zenit have changed their mind after the 31-year-olds successful loan spell at their club last season as well as impressive performances for Russia at Euro 2012. A fee in the region of £10 million is speculated to be the offer from the Russian side, which Arsenal would be quick to accept – the deal would recoup much of the price they paid for the attacking player. Arshavin has had a mixed bag since arriving at the Emirates in January of 2009. He has played 98 Premier League games and scored 23 goals, including an infamous four goals against Liverpool in his first season. But last season he fell out of favour with the first team and opted for a loan deal to the club he signed from – Zenit - where he scored 3 in 10 league matches. The Russian international did feature in the Gunners’ opening fixture against Sunderland at the weekend as a substitute, the game ended 0-0.
