The Gunners have lost three of their last four matches at the Britannia stadium and may have to turn to back-up keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Defender Laurent Koscielny will also be absent, but better news for Wenger sees the return of England winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.


The Arsenal boss said that he could still delve into the transfer market, but ruled out a repeat of last summer’s frantic activity.

Arsenal have already splashed out £35million this summer on deals for Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla and Wenger insisted that they needed time to settle.


‘The new players lack a bit physically because they were at the Euros and of course they lack the habit of playing with the other players in the team.

‘We were a bit below par on all the speed work, on our change of pace work.

'That’s normal with the European Championships, it takes you just a fraction longer than a normal six weeks of preparation.
